To be eligible for the IIM Kozhikode PGP-BL, the applicants must have:

Which college should I prefer, VIT Pune or PICT Pune?
PICT Pune wins this one clearly.
PICT (Pune Institute of Computer Technology) is one of Pune's most respected CS colleges, and if you're looking at CS/IT specifically, it's better than VIT Pune (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology) on almost every metric:
- Fees: PICT is government-aided — fees are approximately Rs.15,000-20,000/year, extremely affordable. VIT Pune charges ~Rs.1.5-2L/year as a private college
- Placements: PICT CSE placements are consistently strong — top companies including Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Persistent Systems, and good product companies. VIT Pune also has decent placements but PICT is better-ranked locally
- Reputation: PICT is highly respected in Pune's tech ecosystem and Infosys/Persistent specifically have strong hiring from here
- College culture: PICT has a strong coding culture, active technical clubs, good faculty
the only reason to consider VIT Pune over PICT is if you couldn't get CSE at PICT. VIT Pune is a decent fallback for CS in Pune. But if the choice is between these two for the same branch — PICT every time.
Why is IIM Lucknow so secretive about placement statistics, unlike other IIMs?
Unlike IIM A who reports the placement correctly and follows IPRS, every other IIM doesn’t do the same. But this secretive nature of IIM Lucknow does not conclude that it has a bad or average placement. There are few factors regarding this clause, and some of them are listed below.
- The placement of IIM Lucknow is quite good. But, there are cases of mentioning increased and inflated figures in data, and average salaries are used instead of median salaries.
- According to the newspapers, most of them get huge salary packages, which is not exactly true. 80% of the entire batch get good salary packages, while the bottom 20% struggle to get decent packages. This is the case across many B schools in India.
- There are several factors that matter in placement, which include the number of recruiters visiting the campus, the number of big brands and new brands, the average salary of top 100-200 students, etc.
So, no detailed reports are provided from IIM Lucknow regarding their placement. Detailed information is usually received from insiders like alumni and professors, without disclosure in identity.
Is IITH better than IITBHU or IIT Guwahati?
Yes, IIT Hyderabad is definitely better than IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati. I have drawn a general comparison between these institutes on the basis of some common parameters

- Research: IIT Hyderabad is known for its rich research culture and ranks 7th best in India. There are multiple ongoing projects and fields on which IIT Hyderabad students are working on currently.

Which programming languages are taught at IIT Bombay in the computer science branch? Is it difficult to learn?
Some programming languages taught at IIT Bombay year-wise are
- First year: One institute course on programming, in C++, simple assignments concerning file I/O, etc. One course on functional programming, in Scheme, assignments heavily based on recursion, tail-recursion, etc.
- Second year: Data structures course, in C++, assignments based on data structures of course, like a heap, binary search tree, linked list, etc.
- Third year: Operating systems, mainly C++, assignments related to Linux systems. Artificial intelligence.
- Fourth year: There aren’t any compulsory courses left and you can choose one based on your preference.
Basically, you'll be taught C++ and maybe one functional programming language. Most of the courses are not exactly about programming but do have some programming assignments that will also be in C++.
How is the Wi-Fi speed at the NIT Trichy?
One of my friends graduated from NIT Trichy and here are some details about the wifi and its availability around the campus.
- The Wi-Fi speed varies depending on the hostel you are in and the location of the room in the hostel.
- The lucky ones who have a wifi router just outside their room are lucky enough to get such rooms.
- They can stream online and don’t have to worry about slow connection speed.
- However, sometimes it disappoints because of a few technical issues but then this is something that will happen and get rectified and then happen again.
- Hostel room allotment is computer-based and so you are too lucky to get a good one. Rest the world works on negotiations.
First-year and third-year hostels have good wifi compared to second and fourth-year hostels. For the second floor, it’s amber, for the third floor it’s zircon, and for the fourth floor, it’s garnet. The WiFi speed is overall good. At night, the wifi speeds go up to 4 to 5 MBPS.
How is NIT Hamirpur as compared to NIT Raipur or NIT Patna?
Here are some parameters, based on which you can assess where NIT Hamirpur stands in comparison to NIT Raipur or NIT Patna-
- Rankings- NIT Hamirpur is ranked 127th in the 2023 NIRF Rankings for Indian Engineering Colleges. NIT Raipur is ranked 70th and NIT Patna is ranked 56th.
- Campus life, infrastructure and facilities- NIT Hamirpur provides the best infrastructure, campus life and facilities to its students. In this respect, it is better than any other college. However, you will face some inconveniences during the rainy season.
- Placements - The placements are decent at NIT Hamirpur. It does lag behind NIT Jaipur and Allahabad due to its remote location. But overall, it is at par with the NITs of northern and eastern regions. The list of top recruiters at NIT Hamirpur includes- Paytm, Capgemini, Accenture, Deloitte, CRED, Stryker Corporation and Philips among others.
- Alumni Network - The alumni from NIT Hamirpur work for World leaders like Nvidia- the biggest graphic processor unit maker.
Thus, NIT Hamirpur is a good institution. It is at par with NIT Raipur and NIT Patna.
What is the dress code for students of CGC Landran?
Yes, there is a dress code for every Tuesday and Thursday for students of CGC Landran.
The dress code is as listed below:
- White Shirt
- Grey Pant
- Official tie as given by the college
- Formal shoes.
Though there is a provision of a dress code, the institute is not very strict about it. There is no policy of fining the students for the violation of the dress code. There is also an optional Royal Blue CGC coat (blazer) for engineering and a Black CGC coat for management students.
Regardless of the dress code, students with casual dresses are found on campus at most. Most students wear the college shirt with jeans (Black/Blue/Gray). Even if your HOD catches you not wearing the uniform on Tuesday or Thursday, they are not likely to say anything. But the Jhanjeri campus is quite strict about the dress code. They also check students' IDs at the entrance.
Why is IIT Kanpur CS preferred over IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras?
Firstly, let me make it clear that Kanpur, Delhi, and Mumbai are preferred over IIT Kharagpur and IIT Madras for almost every branch. The main reasons are as follows.
Placements: The placements at IIT Kanpur are slightly better than Kharagpur.
Trend: While choosing an institute, students tend to choose an institute based on the past year’s trend. Since the campus placement record for the top 5 IITs remains the same over the past 5 years, students tend to go to these institutes.
These are a few of the reasons why students prefer IIT Kanpur for CS over IIT KGP and IIT Madras.
How is life at IISER Mohali moving?
Life at IISER Mohali is quite good. It will teach you how to manage life. You will get to meet many people that you will become good friends with. Memories of your life on campus will stay with you forever. Other than great academics, the institute will teach you how to take care of things on your own.
