AIIMS Delhi doesn’t conduct its own entrance exam for MBBS, instead, it accepts NEET UG for admission to MBBS on an All-India basis. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?
This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree-
- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches.
- ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.
- As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.
- As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.
- Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well.
But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view.

Additionally, the overall Registration Fees and Examination fees for every semester is INR 1000. The registration fees for the 1st semester will be collected at the time of counseling and for the rest of the semesters, the registration fees will be collected at the beginning of each semester. What is the current placement and package scenario in Jadavpur University for B.Tech courses?
Jadavpur University has managed to survive the recession to give its student a handsome placement package. My friend is currently studying there and their placement happens all around the years, unlike IITs where placement happens for two weeks or so.
Like most engineering colleges, CSE as usual tops the placement with their highest packages. The most popular recruiters include Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, etc.

Another good thing at Jadavpur University is that most of the big IT/ Analytics firms do not discriminate between the branches and allow them to sit for their placements. This way, you can grab a job in any field that you would like if you develop an interest in it in your college tenure.
What makes it possible for BITS Pilani CSE students to fetch an average annual placement package of 27.07 LPA, the highest in India for any undergraduate CS course?
BITS Pilani was able to fetch the highest average in India for any UG CS course owing to the numerous international offers that it received. I don’t consider including the international offers after converting them into Indian offers and then calculating the average as things like stocks and bonuses for subsequent years are overlooked. Thus, the resultant average is inflated and misleading. No doubt BITS is a great institute but being a private one it certainly publishes exaggerated ads and misleading figures to attract the crowd.
BITS Placement Unit is infamous for its actions and bias so the inflated figures also served the purpose of silencing the ones that criticized the unit.
The only solution to this problem is for colleges to come together and decide on a common declaration format for job offers. The Indian and international offers should be normalized according to purchasing power parity, and stocks made available after 3 years of working should not be considered part of a person's salary 'package'.
Is it worth doing a post graduate diploma degree in data analytics from IIIT Bangalore?
As a student of PG Diploma in Data Analytics at IIIT Bangalore, here is my honest opinion of this course-
The admission counselors will hide necessary information from you, and lure you into spending Lakhs. After payment of the fee, they won’t receive any inquiry calls from you.
The course content isn’t worth the high fee. There are better and far cheaper courses available on Jigsaw/ Datacamp. The pace is very hectic as well. Assignments are very burdensome, especially for working professionals. This course is not professional friendly, unlike what the admission counselors will tell you.
Getting a diploma certificate is next to impossible upon failing in more than one subject. You’ll be taught way less, and burdened way more. The difficulty level of exams is very high. There’s a lot of strictness regarding assignment submissions. Late submissions aren’t excused at all. Plagiarism results in direct course termination. Placements aren’t guaranteed.
Considering all this, I won’t recommend you join this course at IIIT Bangalore.

You can go ahead with the following order to know which among IIT CSE, IIIT Hyderabad CSE, and NIT CSE are better:

I got CSE in VIT Vellore and will get mechanical engineering in NIT Calicut. Which one should I choose?
NIT Calicut stands among the top NITs where you will get a lot of exposure to extracurricular activities. As it’s a government college, the fees will be relatively low as compared to private universities like VIT Vellore.
On the other hand, VIT Vellore isn’t that great institute plus being a private institute the fees is quite high for most middle-class students. If you choose Mechanical here then you can go for two different paths.
- The first path is to go for mechanical core, in which you will get ample research opportunities every now and then. However, the placement scenario will not be that great and you might get some PSUs as campus recruiters for mechanical jobs.
- The second path is to go for IT Jobs regardless of your mechanical branch.
- For this, you need to start doing regular coding and relevant skills to compete during the placement rounds.
- Most of the students are placed by mass recruiters, Although many reputed companies hire but very few students get placed by them.

At last, it all depends on your interest and caliber to do well on various career paths.
