PICT Pune wins this one clearly.

PICT (Pune Institute of Computer Technology) is one of Pune's most respected CS colleges, and if you're looking at CS/IT specifically, it's better than VIT Pune (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology) on almost every metric:

Fees: PICT is government-aided — fees are approximately Rs.15,000-20,000/year, extremely affordable. VIT Pune charges ~Rs.1.5-2L/year as a private college
Placements: PICT CSE placements are consistently strong — top companies including Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Persistent Systems, and good product companies. VIT Pune also has decent placements but PICT is better-ranked locally
Reputation: PICT is highly respected in Pune's tech ecosystem and Infosys/Persistent specifically have strong hiring from here
College culture: PICT has a strong coding culture, active technical clubs, good faculty

the only reason to consider VIT Pune over PICT is if you couldn't get CSE at PICT. VIT Pune is a decent fallback for CS in Pune. But if the choice is between these two for the same branch — PICT every time.

Choosing between VIT Pune and PICT Pune depends on the branch you are getting. Based on recent stats of placements and cutoffs, VIT Pune seems to be a better choice than PICT Pune for almost all the branches except Computer Science/IT. So the simple solution is to opt for PICT if you are willing to study CS or IT else go to VIT Pune for other branches.

VIT being an autonomous college has a well-updated curriculum that is better structured than other colleges. It also offers several skill development and professional development courses. It also has an excellent placement scenario and opportunities for higher studies. VIT has a very talented crowd in different activities and skills. It organizes two fests one interdepartmental and one intercollegiate annually.

PICT has an excellent placement scenario for its CS and IT branches. It’s also decent in terms of faculty and academics but not better than VIT. The strict curriculum and heavy workload give little time for students to explore their non-academic interests.

If you prioritize placements and packages more than anything, choose PICT for Comp/IT else VIT, Pune.
