What will be the fees for a management quota in either MIT Pune or VIT Pune for B.Tech in CSE?

MS
Manoj Sinha Posted On : April 30th, 2026

Management quota fees for MIT Pune and VIT Pune BTech CSE — these are among the most-searched admission questions in Maharashtra, and the numbers change each year. Here's the current picture.

MIT Pune (Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Kothrud):

  • Management quota tuition: approximately ?2.2-2.5 lakhs/year (vs. state merit quota ~?1.5-1.8L/year).
  • Unofficial donation/capitation (informal reports): ?5-10 lakhs for CSE management quota — NOT officially acknowledged or receipted.
  • Total 4-year cost (official fees only): ~?9-11 lakhs tuition + ?4-6L hostel = ~?15-17L.

VIT Pune (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Bibwewadi):

  • Management quota tuition: approximately ?1.8-2.2 lakhs/year (slightly lower than MIT Pune).
  • Similar informal reports of unofficial donations for CSE — unverifiable officially.
  • Total 4-year: ~?8-10 lakhs tuition + hostel.

How to avoid capitation entirely:

  • Apply through DTE Maharashtra's CAP (Centralized Admission Process). Even management quota seats are increasingly being filled via CAP in recent years.
  • JEE Main score + 12th board marks both considered in CAP — a decent JEE score can get you these colleges without any unofficial payment.

Both colleges are good (NAAC A+), but for pure placement: MIT Pune has slightly stronger brand in Pune's engineering ecosystem. VIT Pune is comparable. Verify latest fees at dte.maharashtra.gov.in.

Is VIT Pune better than PICT?

SD
Senjuti Dasgupta Posted On : January 29th, 2022
B.Tech Computer Science, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (2021)

If you are planning on pursuin Computer Science then choosing PICT will be better than VIT. It offers better placement opportunities. According to the recent placement highlights the average and highest CTC offered by PICT is 7.75 LPA and 91 LPA respectively.

Don’t choose VIT, just because it is autonomous. However, it does offer flexible academics and less number of lectures. If you get a backlog, you can clear it within one month.

Should I join Symbiosis Institute of Technology Pune for CS even if I get MIT Pune and VIT Pune?

RR
Riya Rosen Posted On : May 4th, 2026

this question is comparing three private Pune colleges, so let me give you the honest pecking order:

MIT Pune (MIT College of Engineering) > SIT Pune (Symbiosis) > VIT Pune (Vishwakarma)

if you're asking whether to join SIT Pune even if MIT Pune is available — no, generally choose MIT Pune. it's an older, more established institution with a stronger alumni base in Pune industry. MIT Pune has been around since 1983 and has deep ties with Pune's manufacturing and IT sectors.

BUT — before finalizing, check one more thing: is PICT Pune (Pune Institute of Computer Technology) on your list? because if it is, PICT > all three of these for CS/IT. PICT has government-aided fees (almost free), very strong placements, and is one of Pune's best CS colleges.

  • PICT CSE: Rs.15,000–20,000/year fees, excellent CS placements
  • MIT Pune CSE: ~Rs.1.5L/year, good placements, established brand
  • SIT Pune CSE: ~Rs.2L/year, Symbiosis brand, newer campus
  • VIT Pune: decent, lower than SIT in reputation

if you already have MIT Pune in hand and the question is about SIT or VIT Pune — go MIT Pune. simpler answer.

How are hostel facilities in VIT, Pune?

RN
Rajashree Neogi Posted On : January 29th, 2022
B.Tech Production and Industrial Engineering, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune (2019)

VIT Pune used to have one of the best hostels in Pune. But for some policy decisions, they had to let go of the hostel. The new student accommodation is decent but it is further away from the college around 2.5 km.

Rather it will be better to rent an apartment closer to the college. It will save you both time and money.
