DR
Dhruv Roy Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Studied at Ashoka University (2019)

Ashoka University is already attracting top-quality students for their campus. The approach to education at Ashoka University is different from regular Indian universities. It has fantastic faculty, world-class infrastructure, and excellent facilities.

The admission process at Ashoka University is quite through. The candidates should have a good academic record. In the 9th and 10th standard, you should have a GPA of more than 9 or more than 90 percent mark and this is an absolute requirement. Apart from that, it would be helpful if you have good extracurriculars. The extracurriculars include internships and competitions.

In the application form, students are required to write an essay that should be well crafted and creative. Some of the applicants are shortlisted for the interview rounds where the administrative officers check the claim based on your candidature. You have to show interest during the interview for joining Ashoka and if you outshine national-level toppers, sports players, and other qualified applicants you will get an offer from Ashoka. It implies that Ashoka takes in the best students out of all applicants.

How is instrumentation and control at NSIT - infrastructure, faculty, course content, scope, placement and research opportunities?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : August 23rd, 2023

Here is all the information about ICE at NSUT Delhi-

  1. Faculty - The ICE faculty is a mixed bag. There are some teachers who teach really well and their classes are enjoyable. However, there are some strict ones as well. Some do not care about their subject or the students at all.
  2. Coursework - The ICE coursework is fine and gives you ample time to pursue your interests.
  3. Infrastructure - NSUT Delhi has undergone infrastructural changes recently. This is because it has gained University status. The college library is centrally air-conditioned. ICE shares most of its labs with the Electronics and Computers branches. The labs are well-equipped.
  4. Placements - Placements are less as compared to COE/IT branches. Few companies offer jobs to ICE students, especially for Core job profiles. Generally, DRs and people with exceptional profiles are placed in ICE. Internship offers are also less for this department.
  5. Research- ICE students are actively involved in research work. The ICE faculty encourages students to participate in research. Students also work under DTU, IIT Delhi, and IIIT Delhi teachers. ICE students work on around 3-4 projects while at NSUT Delhi.
  6. Scope - ICE students drift from their core stream to a programming job or an MBA. Some also prepare for an MS.

This is all the information about the ICE branch at NSIT Delhi.

Fergusson College is an Autonomous institute and comes under Savitribai Phule University, Pune. It is recognized by UGC and offers various undergraduate, post-graduate, and certificate courses under the Arts and Science stream.

  • For Admissions in the UG courses, it is entirely based on the merit in higher secondary exams.
  • For PG, applications are accepted based on merit in the entrance exams.
  • However, if you are a student from Savitribai Phule Pune University in some way or form, your merit in the entrance exam will be given 50% weightage and the other 50% will be given to your merit in the university.
  • The application forms are uploaded to the website for access to prospects.
  • This begins in the month of April every year. Keep a tab on the college website for detailed timelines of the admission process.

The forms will need to be duly submitted online on the College’s website and the procedure to be followed. You need to carry a specific set of original and copies of the following documents:

Which medical college is better: Midnapore Medical College or Bankura Sammilani Medical College?

AM
Annindita Mukherjee, Posted On : November 18th, 2021
MBBS from Midnapore Medical College (2020)

One of my friends graduated from Midnapore Medical College (MMC). According to him, if you are a dedicated and hard-working student and can manage your studies by yourself, then MMC is a good option.

The faculty members are highly experienced but will only provide you with the required guidance. It will be beneficial if you study and prepare by yourself.

Internships will make your schedule hectic. You definitely gather a good amount of experience during the internship, so no matter how hectic it makes your day-to-day life, try completing it.

Overall Midnapore Medical College is worthy. Many students from popular colleges like JIPMER and AIIMS are known to study here.

How is biochemical and biotechnology at IIT Delhi?

DS
Dipti Sinha Posted On : April 3rd, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (2022)

Biotechnology and Biochemical are 2 of the major research fields at IIT Delhi. Unlike the general opinion, the course has a huge scope and career prospects.

Coursework

The program offered at IIT Delhi is a blend of both Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology. The program has three aspects, Chemical, Biochemical, and Biotechnology. The topics covered under these aspects are

Chemical

Biochemical

Biotechnology

Transport Phenomenon

Bio-process Calculations

Biochemistry

Mass/Heat transfers

Bioprocess Engineering

Microbiology

Fluid Mechanics

Bio-process Technology,

Molecular Biology

Thermodynamics

Bio-process plant design

Genetics

Lab

The Biotechnology department has 2 labs; the wet lab, and the dry lab or the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics lab. Both are indispensable to each other. Yet, it’s common for students to prefer one over the other after a little time.

Research: A plethora of research options are available in this diverse field. The courses offered to cover various topics like Bioprocess Plant Design, Downstream Processing, Bio-nanotechnology, Genomics & Proteomics, and Biological Waste treatment. These advanced courses make it possible to get into good universities.

Non-core placements: This department has a lot of companies visiting for noncore jobs in various sectors such as

  • Analytics: Axtria, Barclays, Citicorp, Evalueserve, Fractal_Analytics, TransOrg, EXL, etc.
  • Consulting: Acura, AT Kearney, Grail, PwC, BCG, KPMG, Opera, etc.
  • Finance: CitiBank, American Express, CapitalOne, etc.
  • IT: 3 Pillar Global, Capgemini, Ixigo, Jabong, Zapak, PayU, Sentieo, etc.

IAS, CAT, and other competitive examinations: The not-so-rigorous coursework of this branch makes it possible to spare time for additional studies and exams like IAS, CAT, etc.

Analyzing the above points, Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering at IIT Delhi has excellent coursework, great research opportunities, and a high placement percentage making it one of the best branches at IIT Delhi.

What should I choose between IIT, Kanpur (materials science and engineering) and IIT, Kharagpur (metallurgy and materials science) for M.Tech and why?

KD
Kirti Das Posted On : April 24th, 2023
Studied at IIT Kanpur

Both IIT Kanpur Material Science and Engineering and IIT KGP Metallurgy are excellent programs. To choose one of these, you first determine where your interests lie. done

  • If you are inclined towards the field of materials science, then choosing IIT Kanpur will be beneficial for you. In fact, it has many faculties that are globally known for their achievements and contributions in the field of electronic materials, biomaterials, optical materials, ceramics, metallic glasses, and corrosion.
  • On the other hand, IIT KGP Metallurgy is a viable option for those interested in areas like physical metallurgy, powder metallurgy, characterization techniques, and material testing. The location of the Institute is excellent for metallurgy eight Tata Steel and National Metallurgical Laboratory are both in close proximity to the institute. This is good news for research enthusiasts.

Both the institutes and programs are good and thus the final decision should be based on your area of interest considering the fact that IIT Kanpur has a much more rigid culture in terms of academics.

What will people miss the most once they leave NIT Warangal?

DP
Dev Prakash Posted On : August 19th, 2023
Lives in Warangal

My brother recently graduated from NIT Warangal. These are some things that he misses about his college-

  1. Holi celebrations at NIT Warangal boys' hostel are filled with colors and joy. Everyone is pulled out of their rooms by their peers. Whether you resist or cheerfully oblige, you end up thoroughly enjoying the entire experience. People throw colors at each other and all these mischiefs are an expression of love.
  2. Everyone desperately tries to get a seat in the first round of the special mess. Mess representatives become everyone’s best friend that day and each student over-eats due to sheer excitement. It's fun to wait for the special mess and save a seat for your friends.
  3. The night before an exam is eventful. Everyone tries to guess what questions will appear in the exam. All the boys join the nine pointer’s room at 11. Each one tries to figure out what the syllabus is, even till an hour before the exam.
  4. Watching cricket matches in the TV room is an unforgettable experience. People make funny comments while watching a match which makes the entire experience ten times better. Watching the world cup on the big screen in the auditorium and cheering for team India with tattoos and face paintings of the national flag is what my brother misses the most.
  5. Various events like DJ Nights, Audi Nights, Movie Week, and college fests are always looked forward to. My brother fondly remembers the fun he had with his friends during college fests.

According to my brother, he will cherish all his life the memories he made with his amazing friends and hostel mates at NIT Warangal.
