What are your thoughts on food processing engineering at NIT Rourkela?

PJ
Prateek Jha Posted On : August 14th, 2023
NIT Rourkela (2016)

NIT Rourkela's newly launched branch Food Processing has a wide scope for development and research and its worth cannot simply be judged through its placements. It caters to the ones interested in the production and processing of food and maintaining its quality.

The branch covers all arenas of food marketing from developing food and machines to keeping the food safe. It comprises concepts from various other branches too like mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, and Food Science and Engineering.

As there is growth and development in India with respect to Food and Beverage Processing, there has opened up a gate for great research and job opportunities, as well, in the near future or I would say it has already started.

I asked a friend about the placement scenario of the branch and he told me that around 80-85% of students are placed. The highest salary package offered is 17 LPA. Most of the students receive internship opportunities while some prefer going to top foreign universities to pursue higher studies or research.

Some of the core companies visiting the campus for placement are Milk Mantra, IDMC, Tetra Pak, etc. Some of the non-core companies visiting the campus for placement are ZS Associates, TCS, EXL Services, Tredence, Affine Analytics, etc.

Other programs that students of this branch end up going to include Management programs in IIM-A, XIMB, NIBM, BITS Pilani, and direct Ph.D. in foreign universities. Some even go for M.Tech Program in NIFTEM.

So, the B.Tech program in Food Process Engineering is a great choice for interested students considering its increasing demand and scope.

It will be difficult to get CS at LNCT Bhopal main campus, with a JEE score of 56. But he can get other branches such as Chemical, IT, Production, EE, etc. He can also try for the other two colleges under LNCT group, i.e. LNCTS, and LNCTE. In terms of placements, there is not too much difference between these institutes.

It's important to evaluate various factors such as academic programs, faculty, campus culture, extracurricular activities, placements, and fees before making a decision. studied at Central University of Kerala

Whether the Central University of Kerala is a good university or not is subjective. Overall, CUK is a decent university. You will have ample opportunities to learn on your own. Other than academics, there are extracurricular activities too, in which you can take part. You will get to meet people from all over the country at the campus. The placement opportunities offered by the campus placement are very less in number.

Should I take NIT Trichy ECE or IIIT Hyderabad ECE?

DS
Divya Saraf Posted On : July 19th, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

One of my close friends is pursuing EXE from IIIT Hyderabad and was all praise for the institute. She had come with zero expectations and the institute as well as the branch impressed her.

  • ECE is a whole different story from CSE wherein you need fundamental knowledge about concepts and coding skills alone are not enough.
  • The faculty pool comprises highly qualified professors who are very passionate about research and adopting modern pedagogy.
  • IIIT Hyderabad has the best lab facilities and modern instruments. Although there is no mechanical department, IIIT is well known for its strong focus on Robotics.
  • IIIT Hyderabad placements are excellent and this year, the highest salary increased by 32% and was recorded at INR 74 LPA. B.Tech CSE average salary stood at INR 32 LPA and major recruiters included Bloomberg, Code Nation, Deloitte, Facebook, Google, HSBC, Indeed, etc

NIT Trichy has an advantage of a bigger campus and more experienced faculty.  So, NIT Trichy is a good choice if you want a great campus life along with studies but if you want to focus on academics only then IIIT Hyderabad is the place for you.

Is the IIT Indore campus good enough?

JC
Jyoti Chopra Posted On : June 17th, 2023
Btech from Indian Institute of Technology, Indore (IITI)

Being one of the new IITs established in 2008, IIT Indore has a very beautiful campus decked with all modern amenities and equipment.

  • School Building: The building is huge with numerous classrooms in addition to Physics and Chemistry Labs and a library. The labs have modern instruments and all the equipment is updated.
  • Sophisticated Instrument Centre(SIC)- The SIC has Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Mass Spectrometry, Elemental Analysis, and Single Molecule Imaging and Spectroscopy to ensure high-quality data analysis.
  • Central Workshop: Here, students are given training in foundry, welding, carpentry, machining, forming, molding, and fitting through skilled trainers.
  • Cafeteria: This is your ultimate escape when you are famished and are in no mood to have the food at mess.
  • Hostel: Both girls and boys reside in a single building although with single occupancy rooms. The quadrangle has a badminton court as well as a mess. Additionally, the hostel building has a separate room for gym, TT, and foosball.

Considering all these amenities, I do think IIT Indore is good enough.
