SVKM’s NMIMS faculty had discussions at their latest conference with IIE on international collaboration. The 31 delegates present discussed higher education opportunities and chances for partnership between the US and India.

New Delhi: The Institute of International Education (IIE) and SVKM’s NMIMS hosted an international conference on March 07, 2024. The conference was titled ‘Strengthening US-India Collaboration for Higher Education’, and saw the presence of 31 senior academics from all over the US as delegates. 

The conference included delegates from institutes such as the California State University, the University of Houston, DePaul University, etc. The delegation interacted with the faculty members and higher-ups at NMIMS on ideas for making international higher education more efficient. 

NMIMS Vice Chancellor, Dr Ramesh Bhat, and NMIMS Director of International Linkages, Meena Saxena, received the delegates on the NMIMS campus.

Conference on ‘Strengthening US-India Collaboration for Higher Education’

The conference was an opportunity for the American delegates to gain perspective on India’s higher education scene. The delegates discussed the best strategies for research partnerships, the VISA process for Indian students, and the mobility of students from the US to India and vice versa. The delegation also discussed the changes and opportunities presented by NEP 2020.

Dr Bhat, an IIE alum, talked about the alignment of India’s rising status with the new partnership. “The Government of India has set a goal to make India a 30 trillion-dollar economy by 2047 and aims to achieve this through robust infrastructural development, technological advancement, and education and skill development”.

“NMIMS contributes to the third imperative with its commitment to building a skilled workforce to foster national and global development…We look forward to building international partnerships focused on student mobility, faculty development, and new funding opportunities to facilitate affordable quality education,” he said at the conference.

Jason Czyz, the Co-President of IIE, gave the closing remarks and gave his thanks to all those involved in making the Conference possible. Talking about the importance of global partnerships, he said, “At IIE, we aim to build an equitable world by helping educate the next generation of leaders and supporting students, scholars, and artists."
