The DAT examination includes a computer-based MCQ (objective) test, a subjective test, and an offline drawing test. Questions would appear on the computer screen on a random basis, with options shuffled for each candidate.

MIT Institute of Design (MITID), Pune, has announced the opening of applications for its Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and Master of Design (M.Des) programs for the 2026 academic session. Aspiring design students across India can apply online through the official portal at mitid.ac.in before February 28, 2026. MITID offers both B.Des and B.Des (Fashion) programs under its undergraduate category and a wide range of M.Des specialisations under its postgraduate programs.
The Institute offers Programs in various fields, including an undergraduate program that provides a Bachelor of Design (B.Des) and a Bachelor of Design in Fashion (B.Des Fashion). In Postgraduate Programs (M.Des), they offer Product Design, Transportation Design, Interior Space & Furniture Design, Graphic Design, Animation Design, User Experience Design, and more M.Des Courses

To apply, students can register online at www.dat.net.in using a valid email ID and mobile number. After email verification, applicants must complete the registration, upload required documents, pay the application fee, INR 3000 for Indian Applicants and INR 4500 for NRI / PIO / OCI / Foreign Nationals, and then submit the form online. Application fees are non-refundable. Admit cards will be sent via registered email and can also be downloaded from the candidate’s portal.
MITID conducts admission in two phases, for B.Des / B.Des Fashion. In phase 1, there is an MITID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) that is held in multiple cities across India. In phase 2
Students have to prepare for the Studio Test and Personal Interview that is held at the MITID Pune campus.
For M.Des, the process is similar; in phase one, students submit their Portfolio and Statement of Purpose (SOP) by 28 February 2026, and in phase 2 take the Studio Test and Personal Interview at MITID Pune. To be eligible for the exam, students need to have 10th & 12th Mark Sheets, Graduation Mark Sheet (for M.Des applicants), Caste/EWS/Domicile Certificates (if applicable), and Non-Creamy Layer Certificate (for applicable categories).
Reserved category applicants must upload valid certificates before the deadline, or they will be considered under the General category. MITID has an age limit for B.Des students who need to be up to 20 years old, and for M.Des students have to be up to 30 years old. Incomplete or ineligible applications will be rejected.
