The Department of Respiratory Medicine at KIMS conducted the quarterly meeting of the State Task Force (STF). With a focus on advancing the goals of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), the meeting featured presentations on various topics.

New Delhi: The quarterly gathering of the State Task Force (STF) under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) took place at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) on August 4, 2023. The meeting was held in a hybrid mode convening to discuss crucial matters. 

Distinguished attendees of the meeting included Prof Manoranjan Patnaik, serving as the Chairman of STF, Prof Sudarshan Pothal, Vice-Chairman of STF, and Dr PK Hota, State TB Officer (STO). 

The meeting held at KIMS commenced with a warm welcome from Chairman Prof Sudarshan Pothal, who proceeded to highlight the significance of the STF's role along with the contributions of various medical colleges towards the noble goal of eradicating TB.

The primary objective of the STF revolves around ensuring the effective implementation of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) across diverse medical colleges within the state. An overview of the performance exhibited by all the state's medical colleges was presented, followed by a comprehensive examination of their strengths and areas requiring improvement. 

Dr Saswat Subhankar, the Nodal Officer for NTEP, presented KIMS's performance report during the meeting.

Moreover, the STF plays a pivotal role in extending financial support for projects that align with the program's objectives. Within this context, two operational research papers originating from SCBMCH were showcased during the meeting, underscoring the commitment to fostering research-driven advancements. 

As the meeting came to an end, Prof Pratima Singh, Head of the Department of Respiratory Medicine at KIMS, extended a vote of gratitude on behalf of the attendees.
