IISER Kolkata announces list of shortlisted PhD candidates

Indian Institute of Science Education & Research (IISER) Kolkata, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) admission process for Spring 2026 is ongoing. The Department-wise interview schedule has been released.

Shortlisted candidates must appear on their respective allotted interview date and reporting time as mentioned in the table below. The interview for selected candidates for PhD admission in various disciplines has been scheduled from November 4 to 25, 2025.

The selected candidates can pursue a PhD in any of the following disciplines based on their field of research: Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Computational and Data Sciences, Earth Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Physical Sciences, and Space Sciences.

IISER Kolkata Interview Instructions for PhD

Selected candidates must report to Room No. 113, First Floor, Research Complex, IISER Kolkata, on the day of the interview. The candidate must bring one filled copy of the online application form. The selected candidate must bring one set of photocopies of all the above documents (as mentioned in Sl. Nos. 2–5).

Candidates must carry their original educational qualification documents, original qualifying exam certificates — NET (Category-1/JRF, Category-2/LS, Category-3), GATE, JEST, etc, along with their original ID card.

Recommendation Letters:

Two recommendation letters must be sent directly by your referees to dps.phd.application@iiserkol.ac.in with the subject line: "Recommendation Letter for [Applicant Name] ([Application No])" in the prescribed format.

If your referees are unable to send the letters directly, you may bring them in sealed envelopes to the interview venue.

Candidates are advised to adhere to the reporting guidelines for a smooth selection process and regularly check the IISER Kolkata official website for updates.
