New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur and the Nagpur district administration signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalize the district's growth strategy on Sunday, June 25, 2023.IIM Nagpur Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri and Nagpur Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar are the signatories to the Memorandum of Understanding, according to PTI.

According to a news release from IIM Nagpur, the MoU was signed in front of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Divisional Commissioner Vijayalaxmi Bidari. IIM Nagpur will assist in creating guidelines that would help the collector create action plans and strategies that will draw foreign investment to Nagpur, according to the press release.

The press announcement added that these techniques might make Nagpur a "preferred destination for investments for the corporate world." According to the IIM Nagpur release, this will be accomplished through developing capacities, spotting possibilities, and utilising technology, scientific data, and historical data, which will lead to the devolution of funds, functionaries, and functions.

“Nagpur district is anticipated to act as a catalyst for economic growth and contribute to Maharashtra's ambition of having a USD 1 trillion GDP by 2027," it said. Additionally, the press release calls for a coordinated strategy to go beyond the usual budget allocation and monitoring, as well as a stronger emphasis on concerted efforts and synergistic coordination of the outcomes to achieve a collaborative strategy tailored to the district's needs.

In order to aid in the creation of action plans and strategies as well as the discovery and notification of policy gaps that would be detrimental to the district's growth strategy, IIM Nagpur will therefore work as a consultant to Nagpur's district government.
