According to the latest reports, more than 52 percent of the 85,853 candidates who have been assigned seats in the initial round of undergraduate course admissions in Delhi University (DU) colleges are women.

The allocation of seats for DU Admission 2023 to various undergraduate programs is being managed through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS)-UG-2023. Out of the total seat allotments in the first round, 45,287 seats have been designated for women, while 40,565 have gone to male candidates, with one allocation for a transgender student, the latest report said.

Further, in an official DU statement, the university has noted that "a comprehensive total of 85,853 allocations have been successfully made in the First CSAS round itself." It highlighted that this distribution includes allotments across all programs in all colleges for categories such as UR (unreserved), SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, as well as for two supernumerary quotas—PwBD and Kashmiri Migrants.

Moreover, the statement said that the allotted candidates comprise 71,578 students from the CBSE board, 3,028 from the ISCE board, and 2,344 students from the Bihar School Examination Board.

Across the university's affiliated colleges, there is an approximate total of 71,000 seats available. To achieve an optimal allocation of seats, the allotment surpasses the actual seat count.

In the initial round of allotment, a surplus of 20% allotments will be conducted in UR, OBC-NCL, and EWS categories, while a potential extra 30% allotments might be executed in SC, ST, and PwBD categories, covering all programs and colleges.

However, in cases where the withdrawal rate was below 5% of the intake in the previous Academic Session, there could be an additional 10% allotments for UR/OBC (NCL) /EWS and 15% more allotments for SC/ST/PwBD categories.

The statement said that while around 22,000 candidates have secured a seat from their top five preferences, 7,042 candidates were allotted their first-choice preference.

Moreover, the university's statement revealed that seat allocation was determined for 2,02,416 eligible candidates, considering their chosen combination of program and college preferences. Among them, 7,042 candidates were lucky to secure their topmost preference.
