Aspirants who did not select Delhi University as a preference while registering for CUET UG 2023 can still apply for admission to the university through its CSAS portal.

DU UG Admission Open for Aspirants who Missed Varsity Selection while CUET Registration

New Delhi: The University of Delhi is currently accepting registrations for its various UG courses for the academic year 2023-24 via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS 2023) portal. However, if candidates missed to choose DU during the CUET Registration Process, can apply for DU UG Admissions based on CUET scores through the CSAS.

Even if candidates did not initially choose Delhi University as their preferred option during the CUET UG 2023 registration, they can still apply for admission to the university through the CSAS portal.

Haneet Gandhi, the Dean of Admission at Delhi University, mentioned that applicants who selected the 'unreserved' category during the CUET registration can also apply under the reserved category on the CSAS portal, provided they have their certificates ready.

Recently, on June 14, the university launched the CSAS DU UG Admission 2023 portal and highlighted that students who aspire to secure admission to the university must apply through the portal.

During the webinar, the admissions team provided a comprehensive overview of the registration, admission, and form-filling process for DU aspirants. They also addressed various questions raised by the aspirants.

One particular question was whether students who did not initially choose Delhi University while indicating their preferences could still apply for DU Admission. In the previous year, only students who selected Delhi University as one of their preferences were permitted to apply through the CSAS portal.

Haneet Gandhi clarified that candidates who did not select Delhi University as a preference during the CUET-UG registration can still submit their applications for admission through the university's CSAS portal. Furthermore, if a student has chosen specific programs of interest, they can also apply for those programs during the second phase of the CUET.

During the webinar, there was a question regarding the possibility of changing categories, and Haneet Gandhi advised against changing categories unless there was a genuine issue with a candidate's certificate, which has now been resolved. In such cases, candidates are allowed to opt for the reserved category.

He further said that it's important to note that except for PwD students, aspirants have the flexibility to modify their categories while filling out the CSAS portal. However, once the application has been submitted through the CSAS portal, category changes are not permitted.

The admission process for the academic year 2023-24 consists of approximately 71,000 seats spread across 78 DU UG Courses. All of these admissions will be conducted through the CSAS portal. Meanwhile, Delhi University offers several BA course combinations in DU Affiliated Colleges

When asked about the possibility of changing the mobile number and email ID provided during the CUET application, Haneet Gandhi said that although students can mention alternate contact details, the university relies entirely on the data obtained from CUET as the "authentic" source. Thus, all information and communications will be sent to the contact details provided during the CUET registration.

Similar to the previous year, admission to DU is based on the merit score obtained in CUET. The registration fees for UR, OBC-NCL, and EWS candidates are INR 250, while for SC/ST and PwBD candidates, it is INR 100.

The CSAS (UG) registration process is divided into two phases. The first phase focuses on the initial registration where candidates provide their personal information and academic scores from Class 12.

Whereas the second phase of the CSAS (UG) process will begin after the announcement of the CUET (UG) results, expected in the second week of July. During this phase, candidates will access their CSAS dashboard to complete the Preference-Filling step.

Furthermore, the University has designated 26 Games/Sports categories under its Sports Supernumerary Quota, and 14 categories including NSS and NCC under the Extra Curricular Activities supernumerary quota for admission. These categories offer additional seats for eligible candidates in the respective domains.

It was announced that a certain percentage, specifically 5% of the total sanctioned strength of the college, will be reserved for the ECA and Sports supernumerary quota.

In response to queries from the aspirants regarding whether a student who has applied for admission through the Sports or ECA quota would also be considered for a regular seat, Amit Pundir, the Joint Dean of Admission, clarified the process stating that initially, the student would be considered for regular seats in the first round of allocation, and they would be allotted a seat accordingly.

Following the ECA and sports trials, a new score would be calculated, and based on that, the student would be allocated new seats. Pundir further added that the student would have the choice to decide which seat they would like to pursue.
