Dr. Ayesha Siddiqui is the Principal of Sinhgad Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Pune. She has done three years Diploma in Hotel Management & Catering Technology in the year 1993, from Maharashtra state Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, BA (English) in 1994, MSc Hotel & Tourism Management in 2009 and completed Ph.D in Organisation Management (2017) from Pune University. She is contributing to excellence in education by her contribution as a member of the Board of Studies (Hotel Management) Savitribai Phule Pune University, member with NAAC, Bangalore for accreditation of institutions.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Education keeps you connected with learning, sharing, and helps in disseminating knowledge to the core”

My keen interest in teaching, learning, interaction with budding professionals, developing & guiding the millennial through various activities keeps me connected to the educational sector. I have also written and published research papers in the state, national and international journals. I feel through education I am serving the nation. 


What is your philosophy of leadership? 

“Lead from the back and let others believe they are in front”

 My Prime way of being a leader is to focus on teachers, non-teaching staff, my students to know and realize their problems, provide them solutions, and bring the best out of them. I provide opportunities to teachers to deliver the best in knowledge sharing and consistently make efforts to provide the best exposure to students to learn and transform themselves into socially sensitive professionals. As a leader, I motivate my team to deliver the best.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the University and the students?

It is my responsibility to create a healthy environment of education and learning with dedicated faculty. I provide the very best facilities for extracurricular activities and sports to the students of the college. My roles ensure that the guidelines are given by the university and other statutory bodies like AICTE are implemented in a true sense. My major role is to bring a change & develop sensitive professionals who are globally accepted.


What was your vision for the university? 

“I saw the institute growing from nothing to everything we seek and it’s still evolving”

When I joined the institution fifteen years back, it was an infant. Today our institution has grown into a charming youth where more than 16 batches of graduates have passed out with impressive careers in the industry globally. Our vision is achieved through our consistent efforts towards our mission statements which we have practiced. Creation of state of art infrastructure and continuous up-gradation, advanced level of teaching, healthy industry interface, developing global citizens are our key steps in realizing our vision.

Yes, I would like to suggest all the students take care of mental and physical health. Students need to be focused and set clear goals for themselves. Students must not only study but should be more aware of happenings around them and in the world, they must read, self-study is very important. Today’s youth must learn to be prepared for failures and handle success wisely.
