Mr. Chander Shekhar Awasthi established the Awasthi Educational Society in 2004 with the aim to improve and set the best standard of education. Since its inception, he has started various courses in Polytechnic, Nursing, Sr. Sec. School, Law, Veterinary, and Pharmacy. Recently, Mr Awasthi also inaugurated the second private Ayurvedic Medical College in Himachal. He has been given a certificate of "Corona Warrior" for his excellent work and valuable contribution during pandemic times. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I strongly believe that teaching is a noble profession as it gives me tremendous opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of the nation by educating the youth and students. In addition to this, being able to interact with young minds is a fulfilling experience that keeps me motivated. I am able to stay young and dynamic by constantly learning from my students. A strong sense of purpose and the immense satisfaction I gain from my duties have kept me associated with the education sector for so long.

Being the Chairman of the institute, what is your philosophy of leadership?

My philosophy for leadership is that in order to lead others effectively one must embody the values and qualities they wish to instill in their students and faculty. It is important to build a sense of morality and humbleness which is much required in society. I practice these principles by listening to my students and team’s concerns and collaborating with them to arrive at a solution.

What are your roles and responsibilities for the college and students?

Being the chairman, my role is to supervise all the college activities and making sure that we are imparting quality education to students for their holistic development. To achieve this, I ensure that we have the latest technology and equipment in our labs with highly qualified staff to assist the students. My aim is to provide a comfortable and safe environment for students and staff members. Moreover, I make it a priority to always be approachable to students whenever they need support, inspiration or guidance.

What will a student gain from attending your college?

We have an exam-oriented academic system at Awasthi Group Of Institutions. We do not believe that the marks of a student are the sole indicator of their competencies. We evaluate our students based on their performance in their examinations and their overall development. We believe that a student’s efforts and dedication towards their studies matter more than marks. I personally focus on building the base of conceptual and practical knowledge of the students. 

What do you think about your responsibilities to the institute and the students?

As Chairman of the Institution, my primary responsibility is to work for the continuous improvement of the quality of our academic activities. I strongly believe achieving educational goals is possible when there is a stronger cohesion between the different stakeholders of an academic body. This can only be achieved with an appropriate blend of constructive teaching pedagogy with the student-learning process.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relationship and environment?

At our institution, we have tried to establish a healthy conducive environment by making learning relevant. To achieve this, we have designed a curriculum fit for the learners and encourage a code of conduct for positive actions. We emphasize and enforces soft skills like problem-solving, decision-making and thinking skills to develop the student’s cognitive abilities. We uphold values like kindness and being respectful to others. This allows us to regulate our emotions better and we get along with others. It is important to know time management so that students can better manage their own affairs.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

India is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Students at Awasthi Group Of Institutions come from all over the world can come to study. Here, they get the opportunity to interact with a wide range of cultures, religions, and languages. India is still a developing country but we offer a wide range of opportunities and state-of-the-art facilities for all our students.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

I would like to advise my students and our youths to focus more on practical and technical education instead of relying only on theoretical knowledge. Don't chase marks, make sure to strengthen your concepts. Focus on getting a quality education by upgrading yourself and your skills.
