Prof. Dr. (Commodore) Raj Kumar Goswami is the principal of ‘Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Women’. Prof. Raj Kumar Goswami is a Retired Indian Naval Officer who superannuated as Commodore on 30 Nov 20 after putting of 30 years plus of commissioned service. He has been instruemental in developing teams so as to be highly motivated and deliver high performance. He has been involved in streamlining the processes, setting up new establishments, and shaping the strategies. His focus has been on the long term development by keeping the big picture in mind. Dr. Raj Kumar Goswami strives continuously to improve his skill set based on the role at hand and always had a quest for learning. Accordingly, he has completed M.Tech in Radar and Communication from IIT Delhi and subsequently did Ph.D in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. He has also completed Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University, PGDMS from JBIMS, Mumbai, PG Diploma in Yogic Education, PG Diploma in Counselling Psychology and earned many more qualifications such as ERP Manager, Six Sigma Professional etc. He is Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and Institution of Marine Engineers (India). He is also Senior Member of IEEE, Computer Society of India and member of many other such reputed organizations.

The post of professor at GVPCEW has added another feather in his cap. As teaching has been his passion, the appointment of Professor at ‘Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering of Women’ has allowed him to live his dream. Subsequently, he was appointed as Principal looking after the complete administration of the college. As Principal of the college he has got the programs running in the departments of CSE, ECE and IT reaccredited for the further period of three years by NBA and he also ensured that the programs running in EEE department get the accreditation of NBA. It was during his tenure as principal that the college got accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ grade for the period of five years. Not only this he also got the approval of AICTE for increase in intake in the CSE and CSE(AIML) branches. Prof. Raj Kumar Goswami has published more than 80 research papers in National and International Journals, published one patent and has three copyrights to his credit. He has authored many books in technical as well as literary field.

Technological advancements, globalization, and community engagement further contribute to this engagement. Moreover, I recognize the social responsibility and economic importance of supporting education. Personal fulfillment, driven by a love for learning and passion, remains a compelling factor, making the education sector a dynamic and diverse realm for me.


Being the Principal of GVP College of engineering for Women, what is your leadership philosophy? How would you describe your leadership style?

My leadership style is the one that fosters an inclusive, empowering, and supportive environment that encourages women in engineering to thrive. Emerging from this thought, a deep commitment to promote gender equality in STEM fields is essential, as the leader is instrumental in empowering and inspiring female students and faculty. Exceptional communication skills, including active listening and clear articulation of the college's vision, are vital for fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Strong mentorship and advocacy capabilities are crucial for championing the aspirations of women in engineering and facilitating their personal and professional growth.
