Dr. Paluri V. S. Lakshmi Jagadamba is the Head of the Department of Computer Science Engineering at Gayatri Vidya Parishad College of Engineering for Women. She holds an AMIE in CSE, an M.Tech. degree in Information Technology and a PhD in CSE from Andhra University College of Engineering.

Dr. Jagadamba has 22 papers published in her area of expertise in reputed international and national journals. Moreover, she has presented over 11 papers at different conferences and seminars. She also takes part in organising and participating in more than 37 conferences, seminars and workshops.

Dr. Lakshmi has guided eight different postgraduate students with their projects and theses. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Jagadamba has worked in numerous academic institutions, like GVP College for Degree and PG Courses Visakhapatnam, JNTU, and Gayatri Vidya Parishad College for Degree and PG Courses.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education?

Participating actively in the field of education is crucial for one's own professional and personal development as well as for the betterment of society at large. I consider the pursuit of new information and expertise to be a primary motivation, as this allows me to better meet the ever-evolving needs of my profession. A desire to improve one's employability is another driving force behind people going back to school. Academics and creative thinkers flock to the education industry because of its thriving research and development scene. Connections can be strengthened through networking, mentoring, and policy advocacy. This involvement is bolstered further by developments in technology, globalization, and community involvement. In addition, I understand that investing in education is both morally and financially prudent. For me, the education sector is an exciting and varied field because of the personal satisfaction I derive from pursuing my interests within it.

Being the HOD of GVP institute of engineering for women what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

My approach to leadership centers on creating a space where everyone feels welcome, valued, and supported; this is especially important for female engineers. The leader plays a crucial role in encouraging and inspiring female students and faculty; therefore, a strong commitment to promoting gender equality in STEM fields emerges from this line of thinking. Fostering a cooperative and welcoming community at college requires exceptional communication skills, such as active listening and the ability to articulate the institution's vision clearly. Powerful mentorship and advocacy skills are essential for supporting the professional and personal development of women in engineering. The ability to adapt to new situations while maintaining one's own ethical standards is equally crucial for a leader in the educational sector. Finally, to give the women of GVP College of Engineering for Women high-quality education, it is crucial to use a student-centered approach, make decisions based on facts, and commit to continual development.

Any message you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

There are numerous profound moral, ethical, and spiritual principles that are good for everyone. But if I could recommend anything to young people, it would be three simple and fundamental values: life, education, and freedom. The decisions you make will be influenced by the weight you give to each of these factors. If you care about your life, you won't risk it by driving after drinking. You shouldn't risk losing your education by threatening a teacher. If you care about your liberty, you won't engage in conduct that could land you behind bars. Keep your composure. Emotional regulation is a must to make it through the challenging times we are in. Dealing with personal issues, family issues, professional relationships, and even athletic events can all cause one to lose control of one's emotions. Most conflicts can be avoided by maintaining emotional control.
