What keeps you connected with the education sector?
I am inspired to keep learning and teaching my craft to the next generation. It is rewarding in so many ways to be able to shape the minds of children who are just starting on their academic journey and guide them through it. It keeps me involved and motivates me to keep learning about the new advances in technology in AI and Data Science. This in turn serves as a driving force for me to achieve good education levels by watching students mature and develop. In addition, both foster a special context for educational research and collaboration, which excites me deeply
How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your college?
We encourage weekly meetings and open communication between staff, educators, and students. We have built a supportive infrastructure, equipped with state of art labs and libraries, to aid the teaching-learning process. We are more worried about the all-round development of students, helping them with career guidance and giving a lot of non-academic but constructive co-curricular. We develop a culture of collaboration with high regard for mutual respect and teamwork. Our focus is on continuous professional development for teachers and staff.
How do you bring a practical approach to subjects and make them industry-oriented?
We forge strong relationships with the best businesses and associations to keep on top of what is going on in their industry. We provide a huge range of placement and internship prospects made to give pupils real-life experience. Our faculty is comprised of seasoned industry professionals, which means they bring real-world solutions into the classroom. We often arrange seminars, workshops and guest lectures from industrial experts to help students enhance their practical knowledge. We also have a focus on project-based learning and keep our coursework up-to-date with industry feedback.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often is it updated to make it befitting for the students?
We ask for constant feedback from companies and industry specialists to keep pace with changing requirements. To provide effective suggestions, advisory boards of scholars from academia and industry are constituted with the help of alumni. In curriculum development, faculty members have an important role to play. They ensure the curriculum covers the latest trends and is designed with interdisciplinary weighing-in. The curriculum is reviewed every two to three years, but some changes occur more frequently. Student feedback is also widely gathered and integrated into the process.
Do you have any extracurricular activities or programs to enhance the skills of students or expose them to real-world challenges?
Along with academics, we provide various extracurricular activities like clubs of technicals, workshops and guest lectures from industry experts. We try to make them participate in hackathons, coding contests and project competitions, which gives them challenging experiences and excites them. The Entrepreneurship Cell hosts a series of e-talks, business idea competitions and pre-incubation start-up boot camps that breezily ingrain the culture of entrepreneurship. Students take on relevant internship opportunities and research projects that get them exposed to real life, which helps in honing their skills. Furthermore, the outreach and community service programs instil a sense of duty and compassion as well.
What was your vision when you came to college and how are you working to achieve it?
My vision for Holy Grace Academy of Engineering, when I joined, was to contribute to being an innovation and research hub, especially in the domain of AI + Data Science. Over the years, I have worked very hard to improve the curriculum to maintain alignment with new technological developments and advancements in industry. I have been able to combine specialized labs and research centres in a culture of research and innovation. I have also contributed to upgrading its infrastructure to provide students with modern equipment for their courses and research and facilitating faculty development, a student-centric approach, global exposure and community engagement.
What valuable advice would you like to give students for a prosperous career?
Embrace a mentality of forever learning and being curious and consider the world as a place that is continually growing. Your foundation should be based on the basics, and it will be the knowledge that will enable you to handle difficult problems. To gain practical knowledge in academics or employment, learn through practice, do projects, conduct research, and partake in internships. Through soft skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, and time management, career advancement will be achieved. By actively networking, providing mentorship, maintaining work-life balance, upholding ethical practices, and setting forth clear goals, you will be able to contribute to the success of a company.
