After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he completed post-graduation and obtained a PhD as well. He has a total of 20 years of fantastic work experience in the education sector. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

In the education industry, which is connected to the technology industry, qualifications are very important. Students must have a practical aspect. The main factors that have kept me in a key position at the institution include my vision for it and the practices that have helped me develop it over time. In this field, we build the careers and futures of our country's youth. This key element was the main inspiration for me.

Being the Principal of BIIT, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

Leadership is a quality that exists within us but how we exercise it differs from person to person. My work style is to motivate students in all aspects. I also believe in motivating all employees to work for the organisation in order to achieve common goals that live up to the organization's name. This creates a solid path for students to choose our organisation for their educational career.

How do you make the curriculum industry-oriented?

Our college is affiliated with Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT), Bhubaneswar and recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. In a very short period of time, the affiliated universities and AICTE have updated and revised our syllabus. The goal was to bring the syllabus up to date with the latest technology and industry requirements. We regularly host industry conferences and sessions towards this goal.

How do you maintain a healthy relationship inside the campus?

A positive atmosphere is essential to the success of any organisation. You need to create an environment that is caring, trusting, and conducive to learning. To foster this culture, the college supports its faculty and staff to provide world-class teaching and research. We promote an environment where continuous improvement is a top priority. All habits start at the college level. Only if you attend classes regularly can you learn to be punctual and arrive at work on time.

What are the steps taken by the college for economically poor background students?

We get most of our admissions from the nearby villages and some from the nearby districts. Our college, in association with the Odisha government, is taking a lot of steps to help economically poor students. The government has initiated multiple schemes, such as fee reimbursement and scholarships. Some schemes allow them to not pay any fees to the college. There are also schemes available for students staying in the hostel at nominal rates or for free.

When you first came to your institute, what was your vision for the university?

I joined the institute in 2020. My vision was to achieve academic excellence in teacher learning so that our students could achieve a top rank in university. We are continuously moving towards our goal and are confident enough to achieve it one day.

What is the top priority of the university in the next 5 years?

At BIIT, we aim to provide quality technical education to every student. We plan on organising workshops, conferences, and short-term courses to teach students the latest specialisation on new technologies that are introduced into the market. We will also be implementing all the new technologies in the forthcoming years.
