You've had significant roles in educational institutions throughout your career. What drives your connection to the education sector?

For me, education is the essence of life and a guide in the modern world. Many jobs contribute to a person's career, but education is a sacred responsibility given to a select few. Growing up in a family of academics, I first ventured into the corporate sector but felt a lack of fulfilment. I realised my true mission and decided to contribute to the growth of the country and its youth through education. My connection to this field comes from the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with motivated people. As an educator, I find great satisfaction in contributing to society and promoting the integration of education and values-based education.

As the Chairman of BIIT in Bhubaneswar, what is your philosophy of leadership, and how would you describe your leadership style?

I believe that leadership is a collective effort. A leader's strength is determined by the strength of the team he leads. My leadership philosophy revolves around shared goals, values, and objectives. I believe in the power of a united team, where all members contribute to shared success. In my role as a manager, I act as a leader and understand my team's strengths and weaknesses. I understand that everyone's motivation is different, so I encourage an environment where everyone can stay motivated at different levels.

What do you believe are the key challenges facing higher education today, and how do you plan to address them in your role as Chairman?

Higher education today faces several complex challenges, including adapting to changes in pedagogy, integrating technology, managing limited resources, and promoting diversity and inclusion. As Chair, I will foster a culture of adaptability and innovation, build strong partnerships with industry and government, and ensure that our institutions remain inclusive, affordable, and at the forefront of educational progress.

Can you discuss any specific initiatives or projects that you hope to implement as Chairman?

Specific initiatives I would like to implement over the next few years include expanding online and blended learning programs to improve accessibility. We will also strive to support research excellence by establishing dedicated centres and strengthening links with industry to increase internships and job opportunities for our students. Our efforts will also be directed towards increasing support for efforts to make higher education more accessible, especially for disadvantaged communities.

How does the curriculum of BIIT ensure industry best practices?

BIIT’s curriculum goes beyond the traditional curriculum and focuses on 360-degree student development. We value practical training, seminars, and workshops to instill innovative thinking. Industry experts are regularly brought in to improve the utility, and our infrastructure supports research and innovation. Our curriculum is designed around industry needs and we maintain strong links between research institutes and industry. We provide our students with the positive environment and tools necessary to succeed in a competitive professional environment.

What do you see as the greatest opportunities for growth and development at the BIIT, and how do you plan to support these efforts?

BIIT's most promising opportunities for growth and development lie in expanding its research capabilities, strengthening national cooperation, and aligning its programs with the ever-evolving job market. I intend to support these efforts by fostering strategic partnerships, improving infrastructure, and fostering a culture of innovation to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.

What would you like people to know about your Institutions they may not know?

At BIIT, we strive for academic excellence and impart quality education to nurture students with the best technical skills. Also, we help them develop a keen interest in working on innovative research projects. We try to share knowledge, morals, and values with our students that will help them grow as competent engineers and responsible citizens.
