Dr. M Ashok is a Principal at the Malla Reddy College of Engineering, Hyderabad. He obtained PhD in Computer Science and Technology from Sri Krishna Devaraya University in Digital Image Processing in the year 2012. He did M.Tech. in Computer Science from JNTU, Anantapur and B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Sri Krishna Devaraya University. At the Academic end, he worked in Institutions like Malla Reddy Institute of Engineering and Technology and Sri Sai Jyothi Engineering College, in various capacities from Assistant Professor to Professor and Principal. He is a Technocrat with exposure to academics and Research. He has organized many conferences, workshops and FDPs. Presently, he is guiding three Ph.D Scholars under JNTUH, many M.Tech Students in JNTUH, materializing many MOUs between Academic Institutes and Industries established Laboratories or Services. He has been invited to various colleges to deliver lectures and keynote addresses. His research interest is in the field of Image Processing, Data Mining and OS. He is an Editorial Board Member and Reviewer of ICETETS, NCARSE - International Conference. He published 50+ research papers in many reputed Journals and Conferences. He is a Professional Member of IETE – India, ISTE-India, CSI-India, IAENG- Hong Kong, etc.

We offer and support conferences, workshops, seminars and faculty development programs. We train teachers to impart knowledge to students through discussions on privacy, bias, fairness, transparency, and ethics. 

How do you tend to build an industry connected with this program at Malla Reddy College or What strategy do you employ for building an efficient WORK TEAM?

Building an efficient work team requires careful planning, effective leadership, and fostering a positive team culture. Some strategies that can be employed to build an efficient work team defining clear goals, fostering effective communication, encouraging collaboration and trust, promoting diversity and inclusion, providing adequate resources, celebrating achievements and leading by example.

What was the most challenging task that you faced in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?

One notable challenge has been the continual improvement of AI models to ensure accuracy, reliability, and ethical considerations. There were some of the challenges faced during the development and improvement of AI models. The lessons learned include the importance of balancing accuracy and efficiency, addressing ethical considerations, adapting to new domains, providing a seamless user experience, and continually learning and improving the models over time. Creating Virtual labs and preparing students for placement drives during the Pandemic situation was the most challenging part. 

What do you find most difficult about being a Principal?

Principals are often expected to meet high expectations from various stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, school board members, and the community. Balancing these expectations while striving for educational excellence and continuous improvement can be challenging. Maintaining regularity and discipline among students is also an admittedly challenging task. Managing a diverse group of teachers and staff members can involve addressing personnel issues, such as conflicts, performance concerns, professional development needs, and maintaining a positive and collaborative work environment. Handling these issues effectively and ensuring a harmonious team can be difficult. 

Principals play a vital role in building relationships and fostering open communication among students, parents, staff, and the broader community. Establishing and maintaining effective lines of communication, addressing concerns, and building trust requires strong interpersonal skills and time management.

What is your Vision for Malla Reddy College of Engineering in the next Five years?

My vision for Malla Reddy College of Engineering is to create a dynamic learning environment that nurtures creativity, critical thinking and collaboration, empowering students to become skilled engineers, leaders and contributors to society.

In the next five years, I want to see MRCE becoming a leading institution of excellence, renowned for its innovation, research, and academic excellence. The College aims to enhance its academic programs, curriculum, and teaching methodologies to ensure students receive a high-quality education. This includes continually updating the curriculum to align with industry trends, incorporating experiential learning, and promoting interdisciplinary studies. So here we concentrate on Research and Innovation, Industry Collaboration, Student Development and Support and Community Engagement.
