You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

In order to best fulfil my potential, and to hone my professional and personal development to truly serve others, I am constantly seeking out and nurturing opportunities to heighten my capacity as a person and leader. My leadership style can be described as being technical and visionary. I try to display deep technical expertise in core realms of relevance and relevant sub-expertise in key adjacent areas critical to success.

I rely on current foundations of knowledge and industry best practices, embrace opportunities to innovate and inspire in new frontiers. I aim to be reliable and unwavering, maintain a steady influence on others, be compassionate, and forgiving, and deeply invest in the development of my team. I also invest the time to reflect, secure objective perspectives, ponder innovative alternatives, and redirect without hesitancy.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?

In a world governed by technology, NIT puts forth sincere efforts to keep pace with the rising demands of technology. NIT stands for excellence, perfection, and discipline. Our major focus and our concern are our students, and our institution strives to impart the best knowledge for promoting and pursuing multidisciplinary engineering in the most disciplined manner. We understand that the need to teach beyond the curriculum is of prime importance, in order to make our students industry ready.

In this time of crisis, a well-rounded and effective educational practise is what is needed for the capacity-building of young minds. It will develop skills that will drive their employability, productivity, health, and well-being in the decades to come and ensure the overall progress of India.

How does the curriculum of NIT ensure the best practice of industry?

Our curriculum is being significantly changed to meet the requirements of recent developments in information and communication technologies (ICTs), Integrating ICTs into teaching and learning offers significant potential for higher education institutions and new challenges for educators, to facilitate a new kind of education in digital environments. The changed curriculum accommodates new demands, opportunities, processes, and potentials provided by digital media and computational tools. Teaching in digital environments can take many forms, including didactic teaching, active learning, collaborative learning, gaming, and simulations. Working and articulating ideas in a group context, questioning and challenging each others’ ideas, and engaging in total collaboration in the determination of design problems make learning the most effective.
