Dr. A. Rajasekhar is the Dean of Academics and HOD of Mechanical Engineering at Methodist Engineering College, Hyderabad. He has obtained his B.E. (Mechanical), M.E. (Production) and Ph.D. (Mechanical) degrees from the College of Engineering, Osmania University. He has 8 years of industrial experience and 23 years of teaching, research and administrative experience.
He has worked as a Professor and Principal in various engineering colleges in the state of Telangana. He has also handled other responsible administrative positions in various colleges as Training and Placement Officer, HOD, M.Tech Course co-ordinator, Secretary/Treasurer – ISTE Chapter, Coordinator, JKC and MR for I.S.O certification.
What is the latest program that you are offering at Methodist College of Engineering & Technology which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd?
We are offering advanced undergraduate engineering courses such as B.E.(AI & ML), and B.E. (AI & DS) apart from the regular undergraduate engineering courses such as BE in Civil Engineering, CSE, ECE, EEE and ME along with post-graduate courses in MBA and ME (CAD, CAM). As an autonomous institution, from this academic year, we are offering BE Minors and BE Honors courses.
What are the factors that make this program the best for the students to opt for?
All the eligible courses are accredited with NBA and NAAC A+ grades. Being autonomous, we are flexible in curriculum preparation which makes our students industry-ready.

How does the program ensure that students are being prepared for the future?
The development of a curriculum in line with emerging trends and technologies being adapted by the industry helps for the betterment of students. We encourage interdisciplinary learning by offering B. E. minor courses that integrate domain engineering with other engineering fields. This is apart from offering open electives in the regular course. The institute focuses on courses and workshops that offer essential professional skills. What are you most proud of in your career so far?
The proudest things in my career so far are the achievement of NBA to the department and providing it with an A+ grade of NAAC. The institute became an autonomous state in the same year 2021.
What strategy do you employ for building efficient teamwork?
Regular follow-up and monitoring of tasks, building confidence and providing the required resources is the strategy enacted by me for building efficient teamwork.
What was the most challenging task that you faced in your career so far, and what did you learn from it?
The most challenging part was taking charge as principal for the first time in the year 2009.It requires dedication and hard work.
What do you find most difficult about being Dean & HOD?
There is no such difficulty in any task. However, the HOD position involves more direct interaction with department students in various aspects of their academics which gives job satisfaction.
What is your vision for the Methodist College of Engineering & Technology in the next five years?
My vision for Methodist College of Engineering and Technology for the next five years is to make it a Deemed-to-be University.
