Mr. P. Anil Kumar Piridi is a distinguished academician and able administrator with over 16 years of experience. He has grown from the ranks right here in the institute, starting his teaching career as Lecturer in the year 2013. Prior to assuming the position of the HOD, He was the Professor in Vignan Engineering College, Guntur. He obtained his Masters Degree From St. Ann’s College of Engineering & Technology, Chirala. He has published 11 research papers in various reputed National and International journals, besides a couple of patents to his credit. In his impressive teaching and administrative career, He has consistently promoted innovative teaching practices and imaginative thinking. He has endeared himself to his students and colleagues alike through his affable nature and empathetic leadership style.

Being a HOD of MVR College, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?
As a Department Head, my prime responsibility is to ensure a kind of positive, encouraging and effective learning environment for my students where they can receive the best quality education and skills. Apart from this, I am responsible to plan and offer them industry internships and various value added courses to supplement their knowledge. Lastly, making sure all essential resource material remains available for students comes under the scope of my responsibilities.
How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
To ensure a good relationship with my students and fellow faculties, I regularly interact with them through an environment which is trustworthy, transparent and respectful. Also, I promote classroom discussion and peer interaction, because students learn faster in a collaborative learning environment and when students will receive best, the relationship between them and their teachers and also with me will go a long way. Apart from this, I come up with innovative project ideas on which we all can work together and learn from each other. The last factor which has helped me here is the kind of routined and disciplined environment I have maintained in college campus.
How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented ?
We encourage our students to take part in group discussions, present their work in front of others and also to ask questions whenever they are being taught any topic, because a curious mind is worth better than a superfast mind. Also, we first capture the student's level of knowledge by interacting with them so that we can adjust our teaching accordingly. And lastly we use multimedia like pre-recorded videos and audio clips to deliver the sessions whenever required.
What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?
We teach them about essential soft and hard communication skills, and clearly set realistic goals before delivering any session so that they should have a clear idea about what we need to achieve at the end. And we continuously monitor their academic growth and performance so that we can customize our programs, training and other activities to best fit their needs.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?
Before designing and updating our curriculum, we continuously evaluate and re-evaluate our end goals, keep a proper track of employee skills that are sought after, take job trends into consideration and include advanced technologies in our course delivery constantly.
What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your department or How does your department prepare students for Higher education?
Our Department offers all-inclusive and customized training programs and career counseling sessions to prepare our students for both the placement as well as higher studies. And we also conduct workshops, mock interviews, arrange internships and industrial visits for them as and when required.
How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
We motivate our students to get hands-on experience on the latest technologies and tools and have faith in their skills because ultimately we are our biggest competition. And we also involve them in different kinds of healthy competitions and collaboration activities to teach them about leadership and team building skills and to connect them with the outside world, we regularly take them to various professional visits.
Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?
Our college regularly organizes activities and events like sports, games, volunteer and service-related activities, cultural fests, technical competitions and other fun activities for the all around growth and development of our students because we believe that along with academics these co-curricular activities are also equally important.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?
There are different kinds of challenges which we are facing at different levels while uplifting the education quality of our department, and the most prominent ones from them is the lack of time to plan and design Curriculum of our college and the lack of time for monitoring and evaluating the performance of our students. Apart from this, we are also facing challenges in balancing diverse learning needs of our students and in making best use of Information and Communication Technologies to supplement our educational methodologies.
When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
My vision when I joined this amazing college was to work for the success and growth of our students and college. In addition to this, fulfilling students academic and non-academic needs by creating an educational environment in which students can attain a variety of goals was another objective. Lastly, I aspire to maintain a high standard of integrity and performance oriented ambiance in college which can in turn fulfill college vision and missions.
How does the curriculum of your department/ college ensure the best practice of the industry?
We do deep research about industrial developments and requirements so that whatever programs we offer to our students, those should be a best fit for them. And after that we involve our faculty members to give suggestions and inputs on the usefulness and effectiveness of our curriculum, subject syllabus and how much extra effort they need to put in to deliver it to students. Lastly, we take suggestions from our industry partners and academicians about standards we need to adhere to.
What do you see as the department’s/ college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?
In my opinion, the main pillar of our college's strengths is the kind of trustworthy working and learning environment we have created for our faculty members and students. Apart from this, we have maintained a disciplined, respectful, determined ambiance so that everyone can grow as per their potential, conduct research activities and also educate others with whatever skills they have, and these things collectively make us strong. And if I talk about the ways we can enhance our strengths, we need to instill a positive attitude in students towards their studies, make them capable enough to think and work independently and complete their tasks within stipulated time, basically we need to enable a curious attitude in students.
What valuable advice would you like to give the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?
I would like to advise my dear students to look for suitable internship opportunities so that they can utilize their knowledge in the best possible way and also learn new skills. Also, participate in work-study programs, keep your skills up-to-date, stay focused towards your studies and life goals, and try to maintain a proper balance between your personal and professional life. And never blindly listen to others, but do things which match with your passion, stay motivated, build your professional network which can help you in your personality development and career growth, and try to connect with industry experts over social media.
