Mr. A. Arjun Rao is the Vice Principal of Avanthi Institute of Engineering and Technology. He has done his B.Tech from GVP College, VSKP, Andhra Pradesh and M.Tech from NIT Rourkela. Currently, he is pursuing PhD. He holds a total experience of 19 years in teaching.

You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the Education sector?

So basically, I came here to do something for students. I believe I have the capacity to motivate many students. I can make them and turn them into good citizens. We can motivate them as they spend most of their time with us. We also need parent's cooperation to motivate their students. To date, I have motivated and encouraged a lot of students to excel in their respective fields and without a doubt I can say that they are holding good positions in reputed companies. My students leading a good and happy life keeps me motivated. 

Being the Vice Principal of Avanti Institute of Engineering and Technology, what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

For me, leadership is not making other people do your tasks. I believe in working and making others work as well. I think if my team is doing well, the credit will eventually come to me so I believe in teamwork. I never considered myself above my colleagues rather I believed in staying together with them. I believe in showing them the path and working alongside them. I treat everyone with respect and for me everyone is equal. 

Being the Vice Principal of Avanti Institute of Engineering and Technology, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of the college?

So again, there is nothing like you have to follow this strategy or that strategy. We do not believe in following any strategy. I believe that if you are good to the students, providing them with the best education and placement opportunities and motivating and encouraging them through the hurdles they are facing, this will eventually become marketing for the outside world.

How does the curriculum of Avanti Institute of Engineering and Technology ensure the best practice of the industry?

We are already affiliated with a college. We can’t have a separate curriculum. So, we will be following the JNTU Vizianagaram curriculum only. As per their curriculum, they are offering research methodologies, human values, placement orders, advanced topics, and everything. Apart from the curriculum, we take the lead in teaching the CRT program right from the first year. We teach how to communicate and build soft skills, quant, app, and advanced methods to our students. We are also teaching our students C program, Java, Python so that they can get good placement opportunities. 

What do you think are your roles and responsibilities to the University and Students?

I believe my primary role and responsibility is to take care of my students, mentor them and encourage them for open discussions anytime they need help. I believe in easy-going conversations between students and faculties. 

What do you think should be the university’s top priority over the next ten years?

Our priority for over the next ten years is to be more practical-oriented. Particle knowledge will be beneficial for our students to do good in their lives. We are lacking in completing our syllabus so our main focus will be the completion of our curriculum and fostering practical knowledge for our students. 

What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?

Our institute is very old and there is nothing that hasn’t come across to the people. We have been working since 1995 and people know about our institute.
