Prof. Srikanta Bose is the Head of the Department of CSE at Aryan Institute of Engineering and Technology, Bhubaneswar. He completed his PhD from the University of Delhi. He has worked as a research scientist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His main areas of research include the simulation and modelling of semiconductor devices and materials.

Apart from these, he has an active interest in other research areas such as RF and microwave, photonics, and solar cells. His present focus is on the use of the Artificial Intelligence concept in data acquisition of IOT (Internet of Things) devices.

My name is Dr. Srikanta Bose, and I serve as a representative of the Aryan Institute of Engineering and Technology (AIET). I am officially an associate professor in the institute.


What do you see as the biggest challenges facing higher education today, and how do you think your institution is addressing those challenges?

In today’s rapidly evolving world, one of the biggest challenges in higher education is staying up-to-date with the demands of the industry and preparing students for the future workforce. Aryan Institute of Engineering and Technology addresses this challenge through its industry-oriented curriculum. The institution regularly updates its courses to align with industry requirements and incorporates practical training, internships, and industry collaborations. By doing so, Aryan Institute ensures that its graduates are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen fields.


What are your primary responsibilities, and how do you balance them with other aspects of your job?

As a representative of the Institute, my primary responsibilities include looking over academic programs, student affairs, and industry collaborations. I work closely with faculty, staff, and industry partners to ensure the smooth functioning of the institution and to provide a conducive learning environment for our students. Balancing these responsibilities requires effective time management, delegation, and collaboration with the dedicated team at the institute.


How do you approach decision-making in your role?

In my role, decision-making involves a collaborative approach. We gather input from various stakeholders, including faculty, industry experts, students, and alumni. We consider their perspectives and insights while making important decisions related to curriculum updates, infrastructure development, and industry collaborations. This approach ensures that decisions are well-informed, inclusive, and aligned with the vision and mission of the institution.

My suggestion to the youth is to remain sincere, be honest, keep your perseverance, and follow Newton’s third law.
