University of Stuttgart Courses and Fees 2025

• Difficulty level & focus: The programme is completely theoretical, with almost no practical work. Even courses like Deep Learning focus entirely on theory; only one lab is included.
• Positive aspects: Strong academic content and well-structured lectures.
• Negative aspects: Very difficult to score; the fail rate is 40–50% per subject. No universal grading rules make it unpredictable.
• Classes & timings: Usually 2–3 classes per day, mostly between 9 AM and 5 PM.
• Class size: Around 40–50 students per batch.
• Indian students: Roughly 50–60% of the batch are Indian students.

• For non-EU students, the tuition was about €1,500 per semester, plus the semester contribution of around €200–250 which covers student services and public transport discounts. I paid €1,684 last semester.
• Accommodation (student hostel) was separate and cost around €300–400 per month, depending on the dorm. At Allmandring 3, I pay €374 Other charges like health insurance (~€140 per month) and administrative fees were additional.
• Fees are charged semester-wise. Every six months, I had to pay the tuition plus the semester contribution to re-enrol.

• The curriculum is up to the modern market requirements. Most of the things that are taught are currently used in the companies and the difficulty level is medium if you have correct basic knowledge about the course. The positive impact is that the research and things that are taught are the same ones that are being done in the companies.
• There are around 3-4 classes per day, which range from 8am to 7pm. The average number of students would be 40-50 per class but it can vary depending on the subject. Around 30% students are indian

• The total fees per semester are around 1700 euros, out of which 1500 euros is the tuition fee and the rest is university fees.
• The uni fee is charged semester-wise. Apart from that, if you live in the student dorm, the monthly rent is around 375 euros and another 150 euros for medical insurance. The food costs around 100 euros and another 50 euros goes in the miscellaneous

• The courses from Electrical Engineering are a little difficult and it is a mix of both theoretical and Practical.
• The positive aspect is that the professors are very experienced researchers who are friendly and approachable. The negative aspect is that a student has to do the heavy lifting and put in most efforts. Also, the curriculum could be a bit more structured. A student is also only allowed to take 12 credits from other departments, which I feel is very few. For example, a student from Electrical Eng can take only 2 subjects from Computer Science.

• The international students have to pay a tuition fee of 1500 Euros per semester along with Semester contribution of around 160 Euros. In total, students pay 1660 Euros per semester to the University.
• The rent for the student accommodation varies on the number of people sharing the dorm and where it is located. The rent is usually between 350 and 450 Euros which is paid monthly and a separate fee for Wi-Fi of around 9 euros per month.
• Monthly costs will be around 600-650 Euros including rent(350 Euros), health insurance debit (around 140 Euros), transportation(40 Euros for students), Groceries(around 80-100 Euros) and lifestyle costs.

• The courses were very difficult as compared to the level of courses undertaken during the bachelor's study in india. It is recommended to revise and study each week to keep up with the difficult curriculum. Commas was purely theoretical with very less practical exposure
• Positive aspects: It is completely theoretical and research-orientated. In-depth knowledge about the topic is provided. Opens the door for a possible PhD opportunity after the master's. Access to various institutes that are conducting groundbreaking research in this field.
• Negative aspects: Very difficult curriculum. Time-consuming assignments. Less exposure to practical or application based knowledge
• Classes: 5 classes per day (1.5 hrs each), maximum. usual timings were 8:00 am to 4:00/5:00pm
• The average number of students for my course was 25. 50% of the enrolled students are indian

• The course is fairly difficult. You will not pass if you do not take the course seriously and study hard. The course was partly theoretical with 11 subjects and partly practical with a lab, research project and a thesis.
• Exams are really hard, so you get low grades for some papers which severely affects your final CGPA. 
• In a semester, we can take on an average 5 subjects. Each will have a lecture and a tutorial, so in total 10 sessions per week, averaging 2 sessions per day.
• Class time would be from 8am - 5pm. The average number of students in each class were up to 20. The majority were Indian students since it was an English taught program.

The course is updated every year. It's very relevant. You can have industrial experience by applying to work student jobs in companies.

1600 EUR per semester. It's not tuition fees it goes to the state. The semester contribution is 332 EUR.

Course curriculum is Up-to date and relevant, no industrial experience given, Plenty of research experience available in the means of Hi-Wi, projects and thesis.

1700 Euro

The course syllabus is pretty old, but gives a solid foundation for what's happening in the background. New topics are added and there is a possibility to take extra courses apart from the curriculum out of our own interest. The course is research oriented, so there are a lot of research opportunities. There is no compulsion to do an internship within the course but can be done voluntarily, though getting an internship will be tougher in this case.

1700 euros including transport for weekend and evening during the week for a semester. It took me around 7 semesters to complete the course including an internship.

Very relevant as it relates to upcoming technologies in Climate Protection. Yes, I did two internships, few researcher part time jobs at research institutes and University to compliment my knowledge spectra. University also organises few excursions, plant visits every year.
