Universität Stuttgart (MSc CS): Accepted I did not apply to any other universities, as I had received an acceptance letter from Universität stuttgart quite early and it was number 2 priority for me. Selected University: Universität Stuttgart Reason: bigger city with many companies (higher working student opportunities) Admission process: They have their application portal. Register on that. Documents to be submitted (Digital copies): - Transcripts - Degree certificate - IELTS/TOEFL certificate (6.5 or more required) - Form listing subjects in bachelor's (this can be downloaded from the portal itself). - Optionally LORs, GRE and Letter of motivation. Once submitted, a few weeks after the deadline, you will receive acceptance or rejection mail. Acceptance criteria: Not explicitly mentioned but takes into consideration your bachelor subjects and your final bachelors score. Work experience does not count. It is a straight forward process and I did not face any challenges. Admission for: Winter Intake (October start) 2022. The universities I applied to: Admitted – University of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe institute of technology Rejected - TU Munich, RWTH Aachen, TU Darmstadt ; before applying to the colleges, check out if the courses they provide match with the subjects you have taken in your bachelor's. If the university feels the basics required for that particular course is not sufficient, then they reject the application, except in the case you have a great cover letter Availability of Power Electronics as a Major; The admission process is, you just need to fill the application form from the site and provide the necessary documents and in case of doubts, you can directly write to the admission department and they will clear your doubts and within a month or two, the results will be out and gives you ample amount of time to do your visa process. IELTS band more than 7 for courses in english; the admission process was quite smooth, not that much problems I applied to the winter intake, as part 1 of most of the subjects are taught in this semester and most of the courses are offered in this semester. Apart from this, if everything goes right, the course gets finished in the month f october or november which and the next 6 months are the major hiring period for the companies. The admission process takes around 3 months. You fill out the admission form in december and the result gets out somewhere in february. I have applied to four universities and received admission from three of them. TU Hamburg – Received admission in Microelectronics and Microsystems. Schmalkalden university of Applied Sciences—Received admission in Mechatronics and Robotics University of Siegen—Rejected for the Erasmus Masters in Embedded Systems. I have primary experience in VLSI and my coursework in bachelor's is also focused on VLSI. I believe this could be one of the reasons for my rejection, as they required exposure to Embedded systems and Robotics. I also feel that I did not make a strong application, as this was lower on my priority list. University of Stuttgart—Received admission in Electrical Engineering, which I'm currently pursuing. Got rejected for Computer Science as my profile did not match with the course requirements. I have chosen the University of Stuttgart because it has good master's programs and strong industrial connections. It also has strong international student support and getting a master's degree from this University is valued by top companies. The admission process was fairly simple. Applicants need to register in the CAMPUS portal and apply for their desired program in the same portal. The portal guides on all the application steps and the documents required. Once the application is done, the committee reviews your profile and communicates the result through email. The eligibility criteria for the English-speaking master's program are to have an IELTS score of at least 7 for confirmed admission. GRE and other scores are not required for STEM-related fields. You also require an APS certificate for the admission of international students. The overall admission process was simple and very fast. The admission results are generally announced around January for Winter Semester. This makes other processes, such as Visa, etc., much smoother. I have applied to Winter intake in October 2024. I started my application process around April 2023, when I received my APS certificate. The deadline for application is usually June-July 2023. It is best to apply for the APS certificate in advance; it's better to have it by March. The application results took around six months and the admission result was announced around January 2024. I applied to the following four colleges: FAU Erlangen: Accepted/Confirmed admission Saarland: Rejected. Because they needed GRE I didn't have one Uni Stuttgart: Accepted/Joined/Confirm admission LMU Munich: Rejected. The courses from my bachelor's didn't match the exact requirements I think GRE plays a major role along with the grades from your bachelor's; the better your grade, high chances of admission to universities like Saarland and LMU. I though about the location Stuttgart was one of the big cities but still affordable and I really liked the modules in my course as well because they were very similar to my bachelor's. The admission process was very simple, from applying online starting with grade sheets a letter of recommendation – IELTS was not required but I still had it because my Bachelors was in english I really liked the over application process the admission letter came in quickly, i.e., I applied on Feb 14th 2019 and got the letter on March 17th 2019 Accommodation for internal students is also provided by the university. Manufacturing Technology): Rejected I chose to accept the offer from the University of Stuttgart for the following reasons: As university of Stuttgart is part of the TU9 cooperation and has endless opportunities for carrying out research in various domains. The course on COMMAS gives a deep dive into the field of mechanics and simulations, which had always been a priority for me compared to the other topics and courses. Masters at a university provide more flexibility in terms of selection of courses, selection of voluntary internships, pace of study, etc as compared to a Fachhochschule, where most of the things are fixed. One has the opportunity to undertake part-time student jobs at the University like HiWi(Wissenschftliche Hilfskraft), where one can work on interesting research topics of his/her interest or simply assist professors/phD students for teaching and lecturing activities in order to broaden their understanding of that topic. The city of stuttgart is the automotive hub of germany with various huge automotive giants like Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Daimler Truck or even Bosch having their Innovation centres located in the vicinity. This provides students with an extra edge during their part-time or full-time job hunt. Apart from the tuition fees of 1500 euros and semester contribution of less than 200 euros per semester, there aren't any other costs incurred at this university, which is pretty cheap compared to the various english-taught courses at private universities around Germany. Admission Process: The admission process begins with the submission of an application via the university portal before the deadline, which was in mid-february in my case for the upcoming winter semester. After the screening process of the received applications, the COMMAS committee selects the best candidates and sends a mail regarding the acceptance by April. After the acceptance, one can find the various documents in the University portal and start the visa application process. In the meantime, one can also look for accommodations in student dorms(Studierendenwerk/VSSW) that are located right next to the university and also enrol in intensive German language courses at the university if interested. I applied for the following universities: TU Berlin (Rejection – I didn't have my APS certificate before applying.) University of Darmstadt ( Rejection – I didn't pass the evaluation test, as I was quite rusty after 2 years of not studying. ) Phillips University of Marburg (Accept) University of Stuttgart. (Accept) RWTH Aachen (Rejection – I didn't have my APS certificate before applying.) I chose the University of Stuttgart, as it is part of TU9. Stuttgart city is also quite developed and has quite a lot of working opportunities as compared to Marburg, in which I was selected. I was able to get a working student job at an IT company as a Systems Administrator after 2 months of coming to Germany. I had to apply from their application portal. Once I was given my acceptance letter, I had to wait for my enrolment period. After that I enrolled in the UNI and provided my APS certificate later. The only criterion was IELTS band 7. Also we needed to have certain number of Credits in each category (maths, Algorithms, etc.; the Info can be found on their site ) Overall, the Admission experience was quite nice, as the application portal is nicely made. I was applying for winter of 2023; however, the University of Stuttgart's application date is quite early and it matches winter of 2023 for Summer of 2024 of other universities. Admit from University of Stuttgart, TU Freiburg, TU Hamberg Rejection from TU Munich I got accepted in the 1st Round of TU Munich, but was missed by a slight margin during the 2nd interview round. As they were looking for someone who has experience with both IT and Electronics, and at that point, I didn't had much experience with Electronics. And for Admits, I think my work experience, bachelor thesis and bachelor grades, were the most important parameters for getting those admits. There was not much of admission process, we just had to apply for the university and there was no interview as of such. And for my scores: IELTS is 7.5 and 314 GRE, along with 6 Month of Research Internship and 1 year of IT Job experience. I have selected this university because of its TU9 brand of Germany and the post research experience possibility. If you have good bachelor grade and some job experience, then getting a seat here won't be much of an issue. Intake applied for: Winter 2024 I applied for this university on December 2023 and got Admit in April 2024. The university usually has 2 intakes, summer which stats from April and Winter which starts form October. It took approx 3-5 months on average to get admission. I applied for the following universities: University of Stuttgart - INFOTECH Program - Admitted Hochschule Esslingen – Rejected I had applied for a master's in automotive programme at Esslingen University. I received the rejection for not having prior experience in the automotive domain. As it was mentioned on their website, "Better to have some experience in the automotive sector." Also, I pursued a master's directly after my bachelor's, so the industry experience was missing, which was one of the reasons for getting rejected. (as the program needed exp.) I chose the city first, Stuttgart, and then looked for universities in this region. Applied to two unis, got admitted to one and rejected to the other. The main eligibility criteria were the CGPA from your bachelors (above 9 is good, but now the competition has also increased). The other requirement: IELTS of minimum 7 (as the course was in English) Bachelor course: the electives in your bachelor's also play a role in the selection. It must be in line with the course you are applying for. The admission process was very easy. Create an account on the Uni official page and the steps to be followed are given in a simple way. Everything was online (filling in the details and uploading the documents). Once selected, we can make the payment and complete the admission. There weren't any challenges, as it was very easy and streamlined! I applied for the winter intake. It was during October 2020. My bachelor's got completed in June-July 2020, so I applied for the coming winter semester. The entire admission process took around 4 months. The University will take around 3 months after the deadline to give the verdict.
