What Students Say
Likes
- The course matched with what I was looking for and I already had some first experience in the field.
- I liked the subsidized accommodations and the location of the university. Everything was available next to the university including transportation, outdoor stroll place and Internet.
Dislikes
- Infrastructure for the course, the class itself is okay but the lab exercises are not explained enough and most of us were clueless on what to do. The opportunity to work by yourself after classes in the lab was also limited.
Required Exams for Admission
Overall, I had a fun time and experience meeting new people from different culture. Learning new things in and out of my course. Master thesis period was the hardest and I had friends and family who supported me during this course. Learned a lot during the first year and the load was not so high during the consecutive years. Exams are bit different and tough for the first time. Everyone from my course managed and landed on a job.
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus is pretty old, but gives a solid foundation for what's happening in the background. New topics are added and there is a possibility to take extra courses apart from the curriculum out of our own interest. The course is research oriented, so there are a lot of research opportunities. There is no compulsion to do an internship within the course but can be done voluntarily, though getting an internship will be tougher in this case.
Faculty
Most of the students were from India, the student staff ratio was good. The lectures are taken by prof.Drs with year of research and teaching experience. The exercises are taken by phD students in the respective faculty. Prof. Dr. Ing Marc Andre Keip from material stands apart from my perspective.
Campus Life
Campus itself has a lot of infrastructure, but my course had really old computers. The campus has some indoor sport activities mostly football, basketball, swimming and yoga events. The university has a large Library with access to a lot of research papers from credible research sources like elvesier and IEEE.
Placement
There is no placement, we need to search for jobs ourselves. Having work experience more than 3 years with German level B2 is highly beneficial and recommended. Salary depends on the city you get the job in. Around 48000-56000 brutto would be good starting salary.
Accommodation
The course is connected with an accommodations near the university which is subsidized. A lot of facilities including entry tickets for lots of places are subsidized for students especially below 27 years. The accommodations will be a shared apartment with international students from different courses. This was a nice experience for me. Other rentals are expensive and not close to the university. I would not prefer this option.
Exams
My scores: IELTS score: 8.0, German: A2; no GRE required. GATE scores may be beneficial. Three SOPs and a letter of motivation. My CV included my work and national competition experience from college relating to the course field.
Fees
1700 euros including transport for weekend and evening during the week for a semester. It took me around 7 semesters to complete the course including an internship.
