- It is really one of the top university in Germany i.e TU9 which makes it a popular destination
- The university has a International Zentrum that helps students from abroad to settle in quickly and helps in all official things
- The university also offers free language courses every semester to improve their German
Dislikes
- There is literally no semester break unless you choose the exams correctly and semesters are usually continuous
- There is not mandatory internship in my course that sometimes add a strain
- Sometimes the exam schedule gets messed up two subjects at the same time that needs to be changed afterwards
Course Curriculum
- The courses were moderate to difficult but never easy. They were mostly a mix of both with lecture and tutorials
- The positive aspect the time that you spend on understanding the concept and negative effect is sometimes the lack of time during exams
- You can choose your timings; usually it is 90 minutes per day for two days one of lecture and one of tutorial. It varies from subject to subject.
- My course had 70% indian students.

Course Curriculum
- The course has equally difficult and equally easy courses; it depends on what your likings are and what you have experience with. The subjects are often mixed with practice exercises to get a deep understanding of the subject. The classes start from 8:00 in the morning to 5:15 in the afternoon with a 1-hr lunch break and 15 mins between each lecture. Each lecture is 1.30 hr. Number of students depends on the subject, typically between 10 and 200. And 50-60% would be Indian students for Electrical and IT courses

- My studies was during covid times, so was a little tough to have a conversation with Professors (un till the lockdown was removed)

Course Curriculum
- The course difficulty depends on the electives you choose. Some require more time and effort to score, whereas others are much easier and also easier to score.
- Most of the electives were theoretical; some of them had course projects. So while selecting the course, make sure you look at the course structure and what its deliverables are.
- There will be around 2-3 classes per day; it mainly depends on the number of electives you choose per semester. You can choose even just 1 or 10; it depends on you.
- We can consider the average number to be around 20-25. There were significant Indian students in my program (not sure abut the number), but around 30-40%
Fees
- The Full Fees during my studies was 1700 Euro per semester
- It included semester fees (~1500) and other charges.
- This payment also included student travel ticket (using which you could travel free after 6pm)
- The cost of the Hostel(Dorm) was 330 Euro per month (it started with 280 euro but was later increased)
- The Monthly Expense was around 150 - 190 Euro (groceries, hotel and other basic stuff)
- Health Insurance: 130 Euro (it is mandatory)

- The course I opted for has a diverse course curriculum, can take any number of courses per semester.
- It lies in the outskirts of Stuttgart, close to nature and is quite peaceful.
- The teaching method includes a theoretical as well as practical approach.
Dislikes
- Transitioning as an International Student, I found the exam papers to be tougher than usual, they expect to assess our understanding rather than memorisation.
- The lecture hours are really long, it is difficult to grasp the whole lecture in one go.
- The exam question papers are very lengthy and the time duration is too short, very difficult to complete the question paper.

- Yes, the course curriculum is indeed difficult but Masters covers a depth in that particular course so it is difficult, and yes it is a mixture of both practical and theoretical.
- The positive aspect is we can choose course from Electrical Modules and Computer Science Modules. The negative aspect is I am finding it difficult to complete them in the span of 2 years. Usual there are 2-3 classes per day and the timings are 11am-5pm.
- The number of students in my class is 50 and Indian students are 22.
Fees
- The tuition fees are 1600 euros per semester. We don't have a hostel we have student dorms in which we are required to cook ourselves and we have separate rooms, the rent for that is 347 euro.
- Speaking in terms of monthly expense it is around 600-700 euros (max) but it could increase if you have your college in cities like Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt etc.

Course Curriculum
- The course curriculum is moderately challenging, might be even more depending on the courses enrolled in, The teaching is mainly theoretical as it is a TU. The positive aspects are that the syllabus is very up to date and teaches about a lot of modern things.
- The schedule is completely up to how the student selects classes. It could be 1-2 classes a week or 1-2 every day. Classes are in 1.5hr slots from 8am to 5pm. My course has around 80 students. Around 60 would be indian

- Tuition fees are 1500 euros per semester for international students, + some additional student union fees so in total we pay 1600-1700 Euros a semester. Housing rent is anything from 340-450 depending on the rooms.

- My main aim was change from Electrical to CS and wanted a bridging course with focus in ML.

You'll meet people from all over the globe here. It's like a mini United Nations on campus, which makes for some really interesting conversations and friendships.
Dislikes
- Dealing with the admin can feel like navigating a labyrinth. From registering for classes to sorting out financial aid, be prepared to jump through hoops. The campus lacks that vibrant, buzzing atmosphere you might expect from a university. It's not exactly the place where you'll find spontaneous gatherings or exciting events around every corner.
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus is updated and recent and relevant things are taught to us. The research experience is got via various internships and work-students.
It was a good experience overall. I got what I wanted from the university. Prof, courses and friends were the things that I had aimed for. I got them all and more.
Likes
- The course is very flexible, with both Electrical and Computer Science courses available. There is a good job market in the area. It is also a TU9 and is renowned for its innovative outlook on research.
- The University has an exceptionally beautiful campus. There are beautiful hills and trails available. There is good on campus accommodation available (although you need to be quick to apply). The faculty is experienced and there's a lot of scope for research.
- There are lots of opportunities for Werkstudent and HiWi. There's a good job market available in the nearby regions and cities as well. The city is also very international and is very happening. Transportation is cheap. It's easy to go in and around the city, and even state.
Dislikes
- "The only few downsides are that the courses may be a little too theoretical, and might not suit people looking for practical experience. Difficult to complete the course on time (although it's the case for any TU, especially a TU9) Getting on campus accommodation may also be very difficult. Apart from this it's a good place to study "

- The university that I choose is listed among one of the top 9 Technical Universities of Germany. The course was really good. The university is located in Stuttgart which is the automotive hub of Germany. There are lot of startups and companies like Diamler, Bosch, Mercedes Benz AG and etc. which makes it easier to get a working student job while studying. This covers living and food expenses. Students can work upto 80 hours per month. Since Stuttgart is a major city, the public transport is great and you don’t need a car to move around. Major part this course was taught in English, it was an international course. The University took care of our accommodation so I was very relaxed and my moving from India to Germany was very smooth. They also assigned a study buddy (a German senior student) to pick me up from airport and bring me to my dorm room.
- The university campus is great, it’s located right above the metro station which makes it very easier to reach the university. The student dorms are located in the vicinity of a Kilometer. For international students there are lot of inclusion programs and orientation programs to help them navigate through the university departments and to feel at home. The university also offers interactive German language courses. There is also an international centre that comes up with various events and excursions to familiarise the international students with German culture. The university has a copy centre to get Print-outs at subsidised prizes. There is a student canteen that provides food at subsidised price for the students. Every student enrolled gets a travel pass that be used from 6:00pm onwards till 6:00 am next day in the week days and can used 24 hours on weekends. Other than that university campus has got a small forest adjacent to it. Where students can go cycling, trekking walking etc. there are also some lakes also near by. Overall the campus life is very nice.
Dislikes
- There is nothing major to dislike about. Only thing is that Masters in Technical Universities can take more than 2 years. It’s almost impossible to finish the course in two years. Also information technology course can get complex sometimes. The number of courses in the specialisation are overwhelming, sometimes it becomes hard to choose courses as all are great courses and it’s not possible to do everything. So one really need to be careful while choosing courses as it makes a difference when one is looking for jobs.
Course Curriculum
The course is very updated and very relevant to the industry. The University and some companies collaborate together for some research projects. For example BCAI ( Bosch centre for Artificial Intelligence) has tied up with university of Stuttgart. Student can work there masters thesis around such collaborations. I was lucky to work with Bosch as a working student and also worked for some other companies like BEC GmbH and Kaiser + Kraft GmbH while studying.

- My previous work experience was in Mercedes and my orientation towards automotive industry and related subjects here at university motivated me to apply here.
- University of Stuttgart's location is the factor that makes it so much special. Also the university being a member of TU9, makes it the University to apply to. There are plenty of specializations to choose from be it in electrical, computer science or mechanical. There is a lot of scope for people interested in pure science field as well as there are research institutes like Max Planck and Fraunhofer. The application process is not that complicated and there are several English taught courses as well to choose from. Finding accommodation in Stuttgart can be tricky but not that difficult as in other towns of Germany. Stuttgart being the town of manufacturing and headquarters of Porsche and Mercedes, almost every student gets a working student job. So finding a job as well is not that difficult. The professors are very supportive and promote to do research and solve industry problems. And there are plenty of opportunities to do A PhD as well. The international centre at Stuttgart University takes special care of the international students and organizes several events for the new comers to get to know the university and the city. They have several partner universities which makes it a lot easier to do a semester abroad.
Dislikes
- There isn’t much to dislike about the university as it has almost all the necessary things a good university must have. But the major drawback of University of Stuttgart is the fees that one has to pay. It is 1666 Euros per semester which is a lot higher compared to other universities in Germany. But this is the issue with the universities in the State Baden Württemberg. All universities in this state charge similar amount to international students. Though the fee for Europeans is very low (roughly 200 Euros). So there is this disparity between local students and International students. Another specific problem one can face is with the Visa. Though not everyone faces this issue, but it’s a struggle for some to get their Visa renewed. Even the working professionals face this problem. It has been a problem since couple of years but there seems to be a solution that will be implemented this winter’23. The living costs are a little higher than the other regions but that can be ignored. For some of the modules, its observed that they are a little outdated. But I have personally not faced such issues with the modules that I have opted for.
Course Curriculum
The subjects are quite up to date and are really beneficial to get jobs in those specific domain. For ex. Deep Learning is a course that is taken by many. Though not so easy to pass, several industry experts recommend taking this subjects and ask about it in interview. Further based on your interest you can contact any professor and they will surely assist you with your ideas or recommend you projects and assist as well.
