Is There Any Sectional Time Limit in the SNAP Examination?

The Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is known for its flexibility in managing time across sections. Unlike many other management entrance exams, SNAP does not have a sectional time limit. This means candidates have the freedom to allocate time across sections based on their strengths and preferences.

SNAP Exam Pattern 2024

Duration: The total duration of the SNAP exam is 60 minutes (1 hour).

Sections: The exam consists of three sections:

Section Number of Questions Marks
General English (Reading Comprehension, Verbal Ability, and Verbal Reasoning) 15 15
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency 20 20
Analytical & Logical Reasoning 25 25

No Sectional Time Limit: Candidates can attempt any section at any point during the one-hour test duration. This allows aspirants to focus on their strongest sections first or strategically manage challenging sections.

Marking Scheme:

  • Each correct answer earns 1 mark.
  • Each incorrect answer results in a 0.25 mark deduction.

Benefits of No Sectional Time Limit

  • Flexibility in Strategy: Candidates can prioritize sections where they feel more confident or are likely to score higher.
  • Time Optimization: Allows aspirants to save time by quickly moving past questions they find difficult and returning to them later if time permits.
  • Reduced Pressure: Since there’s no compulsion to spend a fixed time on each section, candidates can better manage stress and focus on accuracy.

Comparison with Other Exams: SNAP, CAT, XAT, NMAT

Exam Sectional Time Limit Total Duration
SNAP No 60 minutes
CAT Yes (40 minutes/section) 120 minutes
XAT No 190 minutes
NMAT Yes (specific limits) 120 minutes

“For a detailed comparison of the two exams, check out our article on SNAP vs CAT: Key Differences and Which One is Right for You to help you make an informed decision."

Preparation Tips for Time Management

  • Mock Tests: Practice with multiple mock tests to develop a strategy that suits your strengths.
  • Identify Strengths: Know which sections are your strong areas and allocate time accordingly during the test.
  • Focus on Speed and Accuracy: The absence of sectional limits makes it essential to maintain a balance between speed and accuracy.
