MICAT Exam Pattern

MICAT 2025 exam pattern for phase II will be updated by the official. Unlike phase I, MICAT 2025 exam of phase II will be computer-based. You will be allotted with a total 165 minutes, i.e., 2 hour 45 minutes to complete the total question paper set in English. MICAT 2025 syllabus is divided into three sections, viz., Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test. Section C is again sub categorized into four parts, viz., Divergent and Convergent Thinking; Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation and General Awareness.

MICAT 2025 is a national level entrance exam administered by Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad. The exam is for admission to PGDM-C (Post Graduate Diploma in Management Communications) and PGDM (Post Graduate Diploma in Management) curriculums. There are 48 MICAT Exam Centers in India where the exam is administered in two sessions, MICAT I and II. It is mandatory for candidates to take one of the three exams, CAT, XAT, or GMAT, along with MICAT 2025.

As we have discussed the basic exam pattern, now let’s understand more about the marking scheme. According to MICAT 2025 section wise marks division, Descriptive section consists of 4 questions, and Psychometric section has the highest weightage of 36-37 expected questions. On the other hand, section C’s Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation and General Awareness.has 25 questions each and Divergent and Convergent Thinking has 26 questions. You will be marked +1 for every correct answers. There is a negative marking of -0.25 in section C only.

MICAT 2025 Phase II exam is going to be conducted on January 25, 2025. According to MICAT 2025 Phase I paper analysis, the overall difficulty level is moderate to tough. Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation from section C was the most difficult part and examinees also considered it to be lengthy. On the other hand, Divergent and Convergent Thinking, and General Awareness was the easiest one. Paper analysis of phase II will be available here after the conclusion of examination.

Ques. Is there any sectional time limit in MICAT 2025 Phase II examination?

Ans. Yes, there is a sectional time limit for the MICAT exam. Within the allotted time, you must finish a specific portion. Specific time limit of every sections of MICAT 2025 exam are:

  • Descriptive Test: 35 Minutes,
  • Psychometric Test: 25 Minutes
  • Section C(Four Sections): 105 Minutes

Ques. I have appeared for MICAT I exam. Can I again apply for phase II?

Ans. It is possible to appear for MICAT 2025 Phase II exam though you have appeared for the phase I. Using the best of two scores, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA Ahmedabad) evaluates each test taker's performance. However, you will have to undergo the application process again.

  • MICAT 2025 Section A, Psychometric Test, is a qualifier round. 
  • If Aspirant qualifies for Section A, their relative performance in CAT/ XAT/ GATE will be considered. 
  • If the candidate qualifies for the above, then only section B will be considered. 
  • Scores in Section C will be considered of the candidates who qualify the basic cut off for Section B. 
  • Based on scores of Section C, candidates will be shortlisted for the GE and PI Round of MICAT 2025. 
  • GE & PI candidate list will consider the Composite Score formula of 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT scores.

MICAT 2025 Section wise Marks Distribution

The duration of the MICAT 2025 will be 2 hours 15 minutes, and the total number of questions in the exam will vary within the range given below and as per the difficulty level of the section.has not been announced by MICA Ahmedabad yet. It is expected to be reduced keeping in mind the current scenario. The exam duration has been reduced from the earlier 2 hours and 45 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes. It is, however, subject to change as per the government directives.

MICAT Exam Pattern 2025 FAQs

Ques. Is MICA Ahmedabad affiliated to XLRI, GMAC or IIM?

Ans. MICA Ahmedabad, or Mudra Group of Communications Ahmedabad is an independent organization. MICA Ahmedabad is in no way affiliated with XLRI, GMAC or IIM. 

Ques. How will candidates be shortlisted for GE and PI?

Ans. The candidates will be shortlisted for MICAT GE & PI based on their performance in section C(quantitative ability, verbal ability, divergent convergent reasoning and general awareness). 

Ques. How is the final merit list prepared?

Ans. Admission will be granted on the basis of merit in all the sections, CAT/XAT/GATE and GE and PI followed by which their choice will be considered. 

Ques. How is the composite score calculated? 

Ans. The composite score is calculated in the following manner: 

  1. CAT/XAT/GMAT: 20%
  2. MICAT: 30%
  3. GE: 20%
  4. PI: 30%

Ques. I have attempted CAT, XAT and GATE. Which will be considered? 

Ans. If a candidate has attempted more than one in XAT, CAT or GMAT, the better of the two or three will be considered for admission.
