COMEDK has released the exam pattern for UGET 2026 on its official website www.comedk.org. The COMEDK UGET 2026 exam will be held on May 9 in 400 exam centres across the country.

The exam pattern is similar to the 2025 exam, with 180 questions to be attempted by students in 3 hours. No negative marking in the exam gives flexibility to maximise the attempts. For each correct answer, students will get 1 mark.

The exam syllabus will be based on Class 11th and 12th CBSE board curriculum, with a weightage of 33 and 67% respectively. –COMEDK Official Notification

The exam pattern of COMEDK UGET is slightly different from other Karnataka exams, such as KCET. Unlike COMEDK UGET, KCET also include biology as a subject, with different papers for each subject for a duration of 80 minutes.

Due to a clash of dates with other exams, the COMEDK UGET 2026 is scheduled for Saturday and not Sunday.

Ques. Are Physics questions mostly numerical-based?

Ans. No, there will be questions on both numerical and conceptual understanding. Students can practice the numerical questions from reference books such as HC Verma.

Ques. How much time should be given to the physics section in the exam?

Ans. Around 50-60 minutes should be given to the physics section, as the calculations can be time-consuming and lengthy.

Chemistry

The chemistry section is divided into three parts, i.e., Physical, Organic, and Inorganic chemistry. The questions of physical chemistry include numerical problems of thermodynamics, whereas organic chemistry focuses on mechanics and nomenclature.

Last year, around 15-20 questions were from Physical Chemistry, accounting for around 30% of the paper.

Chapter/Unit Approximate Weightage (%) Expected Questions (out of 60)
Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure 12% 3-4
Thermodynamics 10% 3-4

Ques. How should I memorise the reactions for Organic chemistry?

Ans. You can use sticky notes for reactions and can revise them daily in the morning, as the mind is fresh during that time, which will enhance your recall power.

Ques. What is the difference between the Chemistry questions of COMEDK UGET and KCET?

Ans. In the COMEDK UGET, the chemistry questions are generally on the easier side, with straightforward questions from the Class 11th and 12th, whereas the questions in KCET are moderate to tough, which require more conceptual depth and understanding.

Mathematics

The maths section is often considered the most lengthy due to numerical problems, which require accuracy and lots of practice. The questions on matrices, vectors, and probability test the logical reasoning of the candidates.

Calculus and Algebra had dominated the exam in 2025, with around 15-20 and 12-16 questions respectively.

Chapter/Unit Approximate Weightage (%) Expected Questions (out of 60)
Calculus (Limits, Differentiation, Integration, Differential Equations) 25% 10-12
Coordinate Geometry (Lines, Circles, Conics) 20% 7-9
Algebra (Quadratics, Sequences, Matrices, Binomial) 20% 6-7
Vectors & 3D Geometry 15% 4-5

As the exam is just ~ 100 days away, students must follow a concrete strategy to secure a high rank in the exam. Given below is a 3-month strategy that students can follow as per their needs:

Understand the Exam: To score high in any exam, the first and foremost important thing is to understand the exam pattern and syllabus and analyse the previous year's questions.

Timeline Division:

  • Month 1: Create a strong foundation using NCERT textbooks and clear the basic concepts with YouTube lectures and notes, etc.
  • Month 2: Focus should be on problem-solving and having command over important topics.
  • Month 3: Intensive revision combined with full-length mocks and PYQs. The analysis of mock tests is very crucial to broaden the knowledge.

Daily Routine: Study consistently for 8-9 hours, giving around 3 hours per subject, including solving questions of that particular subject.

Subject-Specific Tips

  • For Physics, students should focus on high-weightage chapters and daily numerical practice. For conceptual clarity, you can watch video lectures and can revise your notes or any other coaching material.
  • For Chemistry, you should use sticky and short notes to memorise reactions and the periodic table and should attempt multiple mock tests.
  • Similarly, for Maths, you can practice questions in a time-bound manner to increase the speed and accuracy to handle the lengthy questions in the exam.
