Alumni/Alumna

They have alumini connect. An online platform but no cares that much. It's just for a name sake. Seniors of mine are in good position, some are struggling to get a job. There are many who are not satisfied with their current jobs. Inorder to sustain , they got up in low income opportunities

College Events

They don't promote any western culture program. They limit the extra curricular activities for the spiritual events. Such as bible workshops, prayer and many other religious events, which is a huge source for the income. They run in name of charity so they don't have any tax payments

Christmas will be celebrated in a grand manner. There is a technical fest called Mindkraft. But the management wont give enough money to conduct it. The money they give is so low that it only makes up 20% of the overall cost. They are such cheapos. They expect students to pool in the money for themselves but the registration fees for the events go their treasury. The registration fees for participating in the technical fest will range from Rs 200 to Rs 300. There is individual registration fees for many non technical and technical events. All of the money from about 8000 students goes to the college's treasury and do you want to know the prizes they give out for winning in an event? The first prize will be Rs 1500, second prize will be Rs 1000 and 3rd prize will be Rs 500. The students can put up food stalls and for allowing them space to do so they charge a hefty amount and it goes up to Rs 20,000. They make a lot of money through this event. And very less students comes from other colleges to participate due to the remote location of the university. And all the pain an hardwork in conducting the event is for the students. They are horrible money sucking people.

Course Curriculum Overview

I batch was the first in which they tried the choice based credit system. We had a terrible time following the ever changing evaluation pattern. In my first year they changed the evaluation pattern 5 times and those who failed in the first pattern they introduced could have passed if the patterns they introduced following that were introduced first. No student or faculty or the department head had any idea how the marks are calculated. The students had no idea how to calculate the pass marks for a particular exam. Things became somewhat clear in the second year but there were changes in the evaluation pattern throughout the 4 years I studied there that were not communicated to us properly, everything came as a surprise. They force us to learn about the founding members of that university and how they reached their life changing decisions and it will come as questions for the examination. They require us to byheart values and morals spit it out in the answer sheets while they do nothing to impart such values in us. The examination structure is good. They make sure everything is secure and no malpractice occurs.

Exam Structure

Hectic or not depends on individual. Engineering graphic and design was only thing that haunted me but that happened in first year or something. Labs remained frequent and if you want to learn there's a lot to do. I being mischievous guy always had other plans. Divided in semester system exams were twice in each year. From the syllabus they asked, outside the syllabus I used to reply (one gotta study to answer). Level of exams always depends subject to subject and question paper setter to QPS. But results were announced after decent time. Neither quick nor lags well behind.

Campus Life

Being a hostler i can tell campus life was peaceful. Away from city's constant honking. Gender ration(sorry to say) is in favor of boys with 70:30 overall. Languages generally spoken are Hindi, English and haryanvi with no barrier or discrination to other languages. Many cultural and technical societies working from campus. Robotic workshops are frequent and sufficient enough to prepare one for bigger challenges. Neglible political influence within the campus. Parties are limited to self organized birthday parties and all.

Admission

after the results are out I've started to look for colleges which are available for my rank. I was seriously wanting to get into MJCET, where I've done my graduation. Luckily got a seat in that institution. Certificate verification was held by government itself, because EAMCET is scholarship providing test by government. And then I directly walked into the particular institution Some small formalities happened, some paper work and photo graphs been taken. That's it.

Exam Structure

No, actually there was plenty of time to prepare. Labs and theory classes were parallel gone. So it wasn't that difficult. And theory correction people were very tough. Can't expect what happens after exams. Result depends mostly on fate.

Admission

After writing the KEE examination, I awaited for my result. After the results were published, I had received a call letter stating that I had cleared the exam and had to appear for the enrolment day. On that day, I was well informed about the course and its wide range of opportunities. After the enrolment, a few more administrative papers were filled along with the payment of the fees for the first semester.

Campus Life

The university can best be named as a classic Christian university that follows the norms seen in Christian colleges. Though predominantly Christian, the university is secular in nature and supports all religions equally. Campus life is quite fun with a system that is ever-changing that keeps the students on their toes at all times. Workshops are held at equal intervals in all fields of sciences.

Ques. I got NIT Surathkal ECE and IIIT Bangalore CSE. I am joining IIIT Bangalore CSE, is it a good decision?

● Top Answer By Aditi Banerjee on 14 Sept 23

Ans. This is a very subjective question. However, as a student of ECE at NIT Surathkal, I am writing down a few points in defense of my degree- First of all, NIT Surathkal offers a much more complete and diversified engineering education. This is because you will get to interact with the students of various disciplines from around the institution. This will offer a good exposure in contrast to the IIITs which are entirely focused on CSE and ECE branches. ECE is the branch of the future. CSE is turning more and more into a commodity. This is due to the dilution of its educational standards, and the increasing volume of students in this branch.  As an ECE student, you can always learn programming (it is in fact a part of the curriculum in a limited manner). However, it is much more difficult to learn the concepts of ECE as a CSE student.  As an ECE student you can be placed in a software company, but as a CSE student you can’t work in the E&C field.  Both the colleges are good, but NITK holds more prestige because it is much older. Its campus is very impressive as well. But even IIIT Bangalore CSE is a great option. Once you’ve made a decision, stop seeking others’ opinions. Instead, work on your skill enhancement. Considering the sheer lack of core jobs in the electronics sector in India and the huge placement opportunities in the IT sector, your choice is good from a placement point of view. Read more

Ques. How is ABES EC as an engineering college and what are its downfalls?

● Top Answer By Gaurav Sharma on 10 Mar 22

Ans. Overall ABES EC is an average engineering college at best. Here are some of the pros and cons of joining the institutes.  Pros:  It has great infrastructural facilities. There is centralized AC for all blocks in the whole college. The lush green campus will soothe your eyes. The hostel accommodation is well furnished and maintained regularly.  There are many food courts that sell good quality food at reasonable prices. The campus has a big stadium that conducts different cricket matches. Some of the faculty members are cooperative and student-friendly.  The ABES EC placement scenario is decent. The average CTC offered to students is around INR 6 LPA. There are many clubs like Samvaad Theatre Group, Technovation, etc. in which you can take part.  Cons:  ABES EC has a strict 75% attendance rule. Failing to maintain this can lead to detention.  The institute calls parents if they don’t attend your class.  The hostel curfew timing for girls is strict. You need to be inside the hostel premises at 6 pm during winter and 6:30 pm during summer.  The video will take you on a tour across the ABES Capus Overall, your time at ABES EC will be a bittersweet one. Read more

Ques. How are the ECE placements at Thapar University?

● Top Answer By Tania Sharma on 03 Aug 23

Ans. In general, there are very limited core placement opportunities in ECE because of the limited scope in this field especially in India. ECE placements at Thapar University are no different. As a whole, ECE placements here are decent because mostly consultancies and management visits for recruitment. The only issue is that core jobs are very less. But on the bright side, students of Thapar University can sit for placements in all branches thereby opening more gates of opportunities for them. This makes up for the lack of core jobs.  I asked a friend about the placements scenario of ECE and she shared a few pieces of information Around 60-65% of students get placed in the ECE department. The highest salary package offered is 30 LPA,  The lowest salary package is 4 LPA,  The average salary package is 6 LPA to 7 LPA.  Top Recruiters are Amazon, WDC Gameskraft, McKinsey, JP Morgan, etc.  Around 75% of students get internship offers in roles such as SDE, member of technical staff, and quant. In all, ECE placements at Thapar University are average. Read more

Ques. How is ECE in IIIT Hyderabad?

● Top Answer By Souvick Gupta on 02 Aug 23

Ans. The ECE program at IIIT Hyderabad is more focused on IT than Electronics because IIIT Hyderabad itself is an IT institute. Other colleges have a lot of non-IT courses in the first year  of their ECE program whereas IIIT Hyderabad ECE has no such courses in the firsts year  ECE stands for many things in different places. ECE in IIIT is Electronics and communication engineering. However, unlike Electronics in other institutes. IIIT Hyderabad ECE program does not include courses such as electrical machines, electric drives, power systems, power electronics, and related labs and workshops.  The students of both ECE and CSE at IIIT Hyderabad are taught common courses sin the first year after which students can take CS courses as electives. Some of these include Statistical Methods in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Artificial Neural and Networks (ANN).   IIIT Hyderabad does not have official CS and ECE departments enabling students from any stream to join any research center irrespective of the program they are enrolled in.  IIIT Hyderabad ECE placements are great Placement % 100% Highest CTC  INR 46 LPA Average CTC  INR 29 LPA Lowest CTC INR 13 LPA Overall, ECE at IIIT Hyderabad is certainly a great choice!Read more

Ques. Which is better NIT Trichy ECE or NIT Calicut CSE?

● Top Answer By Arnav Roy on 24 Jul 23

Ans. NIT Trichy is always considered superior to its counterparts and rightly so. The institute has a record of excellent placements, a competitive environment, and a highly learned faculty pool. NIT Calicut is well-known for its exceptionally good CSE department.  So, I think the decision of choosing between  NIT Trichy ECE and NIT Calicut depends more on personal preferences than the institute. However you would like to consider the following points before making the final decision, ECE is a bit more challenging than CSE in terms of the curriculum and the opportunities offered. However, hard work and assistance from faculty can help you. CSE on the other hand is an evergreen branch that has a record of providing hefty packages and great opportunities in general. NIT Trichy has a difficult campus life owing to its extremely hot climate and remote location. NIT Silchar has a pleasant climate with a beautiful lush green campus.  If you look at the overall picture, both colleges have excellent departments and offer similar opportunities, so the major determining criteria should be your branch preference. If you are interested in electronic systems and communication, go for NIT Trichy ECE but if you have an interest in programming NIT Calicut CSE is better for you.Read more

Ques. How is NIT Jalandhar for ECE?

● Top Answer By Vibhu Sharma on 02 Jan 23

Ans. Avoid choosing NIT Jalandhar if your goal is to study ECE for the sake of studying ECE sincerely and devotedly. ECE at NIT Jalandhar emphasizes placement, specifically in an IT company. As an ECE student, you'll be expected to perform exceptionally well in coding and other CSE-related courses. Additionally, the compensation packages provided by core businesses fall well short of what an ECE student would expect, further decreasing the appeal of ECE core. It is recommended that you choose another institute if you're passionate about electronics and want to pursue a successful career in the field rather than NITJ.Read more

Ques. How is DTU for ECE?

● Top Answer By Atrisa Dutta on 14 Aug 20

Ans. The ECE branch at DTU is very competent. It has a pool of talented, intelligent, and hardworking students. The reason being that the cutoffs for ECE usually are high. DTU ECE students get placed every year in MNCs like Qualcomm, SanDisk, TI, Samsung, and other such reputed firms that hire electronics engineers. A good percentage of the students also pursue an MS from renowned universities across the globe. Students also prepare for competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSE CSE, and even succeed in them. The faculty here is very knowledgeable and teaches lucidly. They are also very lenient in their evaluation. The curriculum is entirely focused on hardware, communication, computer architecture, advanced integrated circuits, signals and systems, superior probability, networking, and control systems. This is just a broad classification, the actual curriculum is vast, and students can find a lot of interesting sub-fields in electronics. The only drawback of the curriculum is that it does not offer any CSE electives. Assignments are scarce and can be efficiently dealt with as the solutions are readily available from various sources. The workload is at the bare minimum level. The exams require just a couple of weeks of diligent studying. For the rest of the semester, one is free to explore his/her skills, hobbies, and interests. 75% and above GPA is straightforward to achieve and maintain. Pushing a bit more during the exam period can fetch even 80% and above. This all makes the college life here very exciting and rewarding. To sum up, ECE at DTU is a good option that can be exercised if one compares among the top NITs.Read more
