The admission to NIT for BTech Computer Science and Engineering is conducted through JEE Mains. Students with a rank between 3,700 to 10,000 in JEE Main ensure admission to Top NITs in India. The cutoff for NITS BTech CSE will be updated after each round of JoSAA counselling. Last year, candidates whose rank in JEE Main was between 9686 to 347496 were eligible for admission to Computer Science and Engineering courses in NITs. The JEE Main cut off 2024 is 93.2362181 for General, 79.6757881 for OBC, 81.3266412 for EWS, 60.0923182 for SC, 46.6975840 for ST and 0.0018700 for PwD categories. In 2024, the closing ranks for B.Tech CSE across various NITs ranged significantly:

  • NIT Trichy: Closing rank around 4,661
  • NIT Warangal: Closing rank approximately 2,971
  • NIT Surathkal: Closing rank near 2,933
  • NIT Calicut: Closing rank around 9,271

The BTech CSE (Computer Science Engineering) eligibility criteria is the successful completion of Class 12 in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and secure at least 50 to 60 percent marksFor MTech in Computer Science Engineering, the students must hold a BTech degree in CSE or a relevant field with a minimum of 50 to 55 percent aggregate marks.

The JoSAA Counselling will release the seat allotment results for round 5 counselling. Students can visit – josaa.nic.in, the official website, to view the JoSAA 2025 seat allotment status. The top NITs in India are NIT Trichy, NIT Rourkela, NIT Surathkal, NIT Warangal etc. The average fees for BTech Computer Science range between INR 1,55,000 - INR 2,07,000.

ECE at NSIT/DTU/IIIT Delhi — all three are mixed-gender, more prestigious institutions. IIIT Delhi ECE specifically is excellent for tech — the institute has a strong coding culture and ECE students regularly get SWE roles.
