The admission to NIT for BTech Biotechnology takes place through JEE Main. Students with a rank of more than 30000 in JEE Main ensure admission to Top NITs in India. The JoSAA Counselling determines the NIT that a particular student will study. The JEE Main 2024 cutoff is 93.2362181 for General, 79.6757881 for OBC, 81.3266412 for EWS, 60.0923182 for SC, 46.6975840 for ST and 0.0018700 for PwD categories.

JoSAA releases cut-offs for a total of 11 categories. The cut-offs are further divided into 2 genders. All the categories and sub-categories have their own set of cut-offs. The minimum qualifying marks for JEE Advanced 2024 are 35% for CRL, 31.5% for OBC-NCL/ EWS, and 17.5% for SC/ ST/ PwD.

EE and Biotech are both very different choices, but to make the decision easier for you, I am highlighting a few points about my college/branch- IIT Bhubaneswar has a more modern infrastructure than IIT Delhi, as it is newly constructed.  IIT Bhubaneswar offers decent placements, and the EE faculty is qualified and experienced. The campus is away from the hustle and bustle of the city as it is located outside of Bhubaneswar. It is important for you to go through the curriculum of both these branches to decide which one better suits your interests and long term goals. Mechanical will offer you job opportunities in the automotive, aerospace, energy, robotics, and manufacturing sector. After Biotech you can work in the Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and agricultural sector. It is up to you to analyze the potential and market demand for both these branches.  If you are skilled in Maths, Physics, Problem-solving, and Design, you can opt for Mechanical.
