BA 2nd Year English Literature Subjects

In the third semester of BA English Literature, there are 5 subjects. These subjects are American Literature, Popular Literature, British Poetry and Drama (17th-18th Century), Translation Studies, and Business Communication.

• American Literature: Poetry - 'After Apple Picking' by Robert Frost, 'O Captain, My Captain' by Walt Whitman, 'Daddy' by Sylvia Plath, 'Harlem to be Answered' by Langston Hughes, 'To Helen' by Edgar Allan Poe. Novel - The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway, Drama - Death of A Salesman by Arthur Miller. Stories - 'The Purloined Letter' by Edgar Allan Poe, 'The Crack-up' by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and 'Dry September' by William Faulkner.
• Popular Literature: Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie, Abol Tabol by Sukumar Ray, and Tintin in Tibet by Herge.
• British Poetry and Drama (17th-18th Century): Poetry - Paradise Lost by John Milton, The Rape of the Lock by Alexander Pope. Drama - The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster, and The Rover by Aphra Behn.
• Translation Studies: The topics covered are the Importance of translation in a multi-linguistic and multi-cultural society, Literal translation, Free translation, and Transcreation.
• Business Communication: The topics covered in this subject are What is business communication, Writing reports, letters, curriculum vitae, Writing meeting minutes, and E-correspondence.
