Well interships happens under professor so for first year in think it's basic thing is toh just learn the lab work then after some information the main intership start and professor give LOR if you work good under them

Every summer and winter is a break and an opportunity is given to pursue lab and project during that duration. Students apply for various fields and if through a program a stipend is also given. Some of the projects are working in astrophysics, Experimental, developmental biology, Neaurology. Apart from that long term reading and in lab work is also given.

Internships form a central part of the IISER curriculum, with students undertaking internships either in India/abroad during the Summer/Winter breaks (3 months and 1 month each). A 2 month internship is mandatory for all students atleast once during the BS-MS program. Internships you look for on your own however, by emailing professors/research groups and asking if you can work in their laboratories, and you can do them in IISER M or anywhere else. Internships can be paid/unpaid (depends on your prof) but it is not high--just enough sometimes to meet barely meet your living expenses, that's all (stipends in academia are like that only). The outcomes/goals of these projects depends on your prof and the project at hand, and is something which varies from person to person. Many of these involve work with actual research problems scientists work on in real life, and can be quite engaging to work on, sometimes leading to publications or the like.

No external companies offer paid internships. We only have lab internships with selection procedures. They are often not paid. A Bsms student is supposed to do atleast 1 internship of 2 months at any lab in campus or other institute.

As far as the internships are concerned, we are free to do internship anywhere in the world, in our summer or winter breaks, provided that we get the prior approval from that professor under whom we are trying to do the internship. For that, we have to mail them expressing our interest in doing internship under them, attach our cv and then it is upto them if they reply to our mail, or if they like our cv and agree to provide internship under them.

Companies come here for internship are less because it is a research institute. The institute offers high opportunities to grap internships for research from professors to work in their labs. They give reading material and a lab to work in.

Internship is mainly offering during summer and winter for joining other labs and working with them. Students form other collegs can opt for these opportunities. The internship are not always paid internship. Different projects are offerd by different labs.

Mostly internships are available under the professors in the topics the professors hold their research in. I myself have taken a physics internship for the upcoming summer semester under my physics professor

You can contact various professors for internship opportunities. These are research opportunities hench will give you exposure to experimental and theoretical analysis. These can be free and paid depending on the professor and program through which you get into the internship.

One can do an internship under any prof. From any part of the country but from an affiliated good uni. During summer or winter. There is no stipend provided as far as I know. But one under some scheme might avail it.
