Burdwan University, Directorate of Distance Education provides distance learning courses under MBA, B.Ed., M.Sc., M.A. and M.Com. programs. - Candidates who have completed the NCTE recognized Teacher Education program are eligible for admission.

Eligibility criteria
- A minimum 2nd class Hons. (Regular or Special) graduate in the relevant subject having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University, or
- A pass graduate in the 10+2+3 pattern having offered the relevant subject as a combination / elective one (of not less than 300 marks at the degree stage) securing at least 30% marks in it, or,
- B.Sc, / B.Com. / B.A. Pass Graduates who subsequently passed Special B.A. (of not less than 300 marks in the relevant subject) securing at least 30% marks in it, or
- A pass graduate in the 10+2+2 / 10+1+3 / 11+3 pattern for students who subsequently passed 1 year Bridge Course in the relevant subject (of not less than 300 marks at the degree level) and thus became equivalent to a pass graduate of 10+2+3 pattern securing at least 40% marks in it, or
- A minimum 2nd Class Hons. (Regular or Special) graduate in Mathematics having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University
- A minimum 2nd class Hons. (Regular or special) graduate in Mathematics having pursued the course of the old 11+3 pattern, or
- B.A. graduates in the 10+2+3 pattern having offered Mathematics as combination / elective one (of not less than 300 marks at the degree stage) securing at least 30% marks in it.
M.Com:
- A minimum 2nd Class Hons. (Regular or Special) graduate in Commerce having pursued the course in the 10+2+3 pattern from any recognized University.
M.Sc Computer Science
- B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science/ Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA)/ B.E. or equivalent/ B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics / Physics / Chemistry with Computer Science as one of the combination subject.
Note: Candidates having a MA in “Islamic History and Culture” or “Ancient History and Culture” from any University are not entitled to do MA History.
Selection Criteria
Selection of the student in PG courses is based on merit and the admissions board only looks at the student’s previous performance for finalising selection.

Eligibility criteria
- All applying candidates must have valid CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT scores to be eligible for admission.

- Selection is first done on the basis of CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT scores or the scores in the entrance exam by the university.
- Qualifying candidates are moved to the next stage which is the Group Discussion and Personal Interview stage.
- Final selection is based on a cumulative result of GD and PI.
How to apply to Burdwan University?
- All applying candidates, irrespective of course, must fill in the admission form available on the university’s website as the first step.
- Application ID is generated for each student once the application form has been filled in.
- Now, applicants need to re-login and pay the 200/- registration fee through an online payment method.
- Application form and payment receipt both have to be printed for future use.
