- No ragging. All seniors are very friendly and helpful.
- Proper sports facilities and equipments.
- Classrooms are clean and spacious to accommodate full strength.
Dislikes
- Language barrier, as most students are Telgu or Tamil its hard for non south indian students. All we have to communicate in English only.
- Minimum required attendance is 85%. Its hard to maintain.
- Most of food made is south indian and north indians not have much options to choose
Admission:
I got this collage from jossa counseling. I scored 97.8 percentile in jee mains and my rank was 33000. My preferences was cs branch but i dont have required rank. NIT would have be a better option.
Admission process was lengthy and full of documents and papers. All name and information is properly verified.

- Great professors having many connections with top IIT's ,NIT's and other foreign universities

- Hostel maintenance (Working of Lift) is not proper
- Teaching of most of the professors is not good even though they have great knowledge

I had applied for NIT Jamshedpur in Biotechnology.I chose this college over that because I got mechanical engineering here which is a core and my interesting field than Biotechnology.Also the nirf ranking of this cllg was within 120 at my time.Also this college is near to my state.
Admission procedure is through JEE MAINS rank
To get Mechanical engineering you need JEE percentile of 94 if you are from general category.
After getting selected,u need to submit the necessary documents which will be out in the college website.They will ask us to come on specific dates so that it will be easy for us and them to go with the admission procedure

- Hostels are nice ,all new buildings with ethernrt connections and lift
- Mixed mess,all girls and boys eat together in a common mess
- Grading system is relative even when paper is hard it takes relative grafing
Dislikes
- Fest here are very bad as the professors doesnt support properly and doesnt give money
- Mess food has only veg we have to pay extra on meal basis for egg and chicken
- At times boys and girls are not treated in the same way

I applied to NIT CALICUT NIT SURATKAL, NIT TRICHY. For my trial round i got nit suratkal for EEE. But i shifted it to down and kept iiitdmk up..I chose this as it was the only college with Smart Manufacturing. Course and i was intrested in the way the curriculum was set including Cs,ece,eee Nd mechanical.As my jee score was not great to enter cse courses in nit calicut i got rejected there.
Admission procedures were pretty easy.Jee scores are important .only jee mains
Cutoff vsluse increase and decrease every year.For cse course it is around 97 to 97 percentile

- I liked the environment of colege a it is completely surrounded between hills
- I liked plants which were grown inside campus which gives us good oxygen
- I liked the way how faculty is treating in labs ass they are taking care of everyone

- I don't like the food they keep in mess as it is not tasty
- I don't like the environment inside mess as it is full of Houseflies and Mosquitoes

I applied for NIT TRICHY But i am getting civil engineering there so i opted out i was also getting Mechanical engineering in NIT Calicut but as it is too far away from home town i opted out. I decided not to go to northern states due to some personal probelms (Health).
I got rejection from NIT Trichy Mechanical as my Percentile is not good as much to gain that college.
Aligibility is that the student must pass th Jee mainss examination with a certain percentile depending on the reservation
Exams in the college are relatively graded and not on absolute grading

- The sports in our college is one of the best and our college is concerned about sports very well
- The professors are very nice they handle both academics and non academics
- We get more privacy in our college and it is very nice

This is one of the government funded colleges in India and one of the best college in Tamil Nadu , according to my jee rank , the best college I can go is this college only (IIITDM) , may be the average placements are poor but the support for getting development is very high you can do mtech in iit Madras by using one of the MOU of our college

Likes
- Good Infrastructure of boys hostels (I do not know about the girls hostel but it is similar), mess, academics block, laboratory complex and library.
- Faculty is knowledgeable in their domains and, if studied with heart, they really do teach well.
- The gym is arguably the best in our campus. It contains almost every machine for individual muscle groups. Recently they have installed AC in our gym. And the sem-wise fees is only 250/-.
Dislikes
- The campus is good but the ground maintenance should be improved. For eg, the football ground is not covered in grass and contains mostly small stones and pebbles which is why the football players face unnecessary wearing off of their studs.
- Frequent problems of power cut and LAN issues. Creates big problems during exams. Also the college is in the outskirts of Chennai, so sometimes network problems of SIM also occurs.
- College is situated in the outskirts, hence sometimes it becomes difficult for shopping and travelling purposes.
Admission:
Well, I got this college through CSAB. In JoSAA, I was disqualified for being late for fee payment in the first round itself. Then in CSAB, I did apply for other colleges, IIITs, NITs, GFTIs, etc. In the first round, I got NIT Srinagar in IT. But I waited for the next round and then I got IIITDM Chennai. In my early years, I used to cuss this college a lot. With the conditions at the post-covid time, no freshers, hardly any fests and discrimination, I used to hate my life. Then I talked to some of my friends in other colleges and then I realised that this college, although with a smaller campus of only 55 acres, is still trying its level best. A lot of reforms are seen in the past 2 years. Having 2 different caterers in the mess, freshers night, increasing budget of clubs and fests, it's like I have seen the college raise its standards.
As for admission process, there is like a week or 10 days period for all the document verification work. After this, the students are alloted their time tables and they can daily go to classes. It's straight forward actually.

- The junior senior interaction is amazing in this college as most of the seniors are almost always ready to help you out with anything.
- The campus is not huge but still accommodates all the amenities a student would need in a college to have a happy college life.
- Almost all the faculty in the college are well established in the field they teach in the college and hence they are able ti clear the doubts we have instantly.
Dislikes
- On some days of the week the classes start as early as 8 in the morning which is slightly hectic.
- The library is closed on Sundays which can be irritating but still it is not a huge issue.
- Due to overcrowding in the gym, they make you pay to buy slots to enter the gym here.
Admission:
I applied and got selected in RGIPT amethi for Btech in computer science and design, but i felt like IIITDM mechanical would be a better choice because I felt like the institutes speciality in the field of design and manufacturing would help me buid a career around my passion of cars and machanics in general. The clubs in IIITDM was also a reason why i chose it over RGIPT.
To get into IIITDM, a student will have to clear JEE mains with a good rank and will have appl through counselling like JOSAA and CSAB for indian students while NRI's will have to apply through a special counselling called DASAA.

i came this college through my JEE marks. i have no other options to go other college through my JEE marks.because i need computer science departement. i think our college is best in sports when we compare with some other iiit.

- Sometimes language barrier makes a division among students
- Location of the college which is quite far from main Chennai area
Admission:
I applied for CEG GUINDY through TNEA and got EEE course which only needs board exam cut off.
But through JEE , I got IIITDM ECE DD course and I am satisfied with the choice I made.
For those who want to joij my college , they need to give JEE exam mains attempt and through JOSAA or CSAB counselling they could get admission here .

In case you belong to General category, you can get admission to IIITDM Chennai with around 93%ile or more in JEE Mains, however if you fall under reserved category, you can get admission within 85-92%ile too.
