Review of school of planning and architecture delhi

Likes

There is only one class for one year so you know everyone.
Is in the heart of delhi and all the planning related institues are nearby.
Has a huge alumini network and the college has a good value as it is the best college of planning in India

Dislikes

The college has very poor infrastructure.
The college is very small. There are two blocks - planning and architecture block and both are around 500m apart and also the college doesn't have area for anything. It can't be said as a campus
Hostel is far from college and there is no transportation facility

Admission:

This was my top most preferred college as it is the best college in India for planning. I was getting admission in school of planning and architecture Vijayawada before this and I got into spa delhi through the csab allotment

Experienced faculties with expertise in the field.
Social life within the campus. Senior junior interactions and so called SPA culture
Course cirriculum which is more of practical based learning rather than mugging up text books

Dislikes

Infrastructure of college and hostel, deprivation of basic facilities and amenities at times like water supply, good drinking water
Placement services and exposure to various organisations via college.

Admission:

I was preparing for architecture and had made it to reputed colleges like CEPT, NITs, JMI, and CET. Paralley i got B.Plan at SPA too. Out of curiosity, i had went through the syllabus and it captivated me more than what i was preparing for. Fore getting into SPA, you'll have to give JEE-II which will be conducted alongside JEE. If you get a decent rank, voila! you get a seat.

Think twice before you come here

Likes

Canteen food is good here. The nescafe as well.
The library has a huge variety of works from seniors and thesis of our almunis from over the last 50 years
The classrooms are good in the planning block with good equipments and A/C as well as projectors.

Dislikes

The administration is really bad here. They work like every other govt office. Very slow.
The hostel condition while not bad is still not great too. The mess food may or may not give you an upset stomach. Be careful of MB hostel.
The senior junior interaction. It looks like just an interaction but the internal pressure is there.

Admission:

I tried for some other DU universities. I even got into Miranda House but at the end I decided to come here because I had some friends who were here already and also because of some other connections. The course I got into in Miranda wasn't something my mother wanted me to go for as well so here we are.

The faculties and their methods of teaching

Dislikes

The campus is too small for the vast amount of students
The hostel too far from the college and we have to pay extra for the travel charges since there is no services from the college's side after giving the hostel some 6.7kms far

Admission:

The college is of national importance and we did not know the course was too hard and sleep deprived and has a very small campus and a hostel at 6.7kms far and no sign of getting a new campus dues to internal issues

Experience of SPAD as a planner

The faculties here are well experienced and guide us through a proper curriculum which kinda stressful yet it is what we need learn. The practice based learning is the base thing which actually differentiate us from the engineering course.
The college value is pretty visible whether I working as an intern or going to conventions. Other colleges always sees us as different species and our work is obviously better
The college alumni is pretty strong and the connection and exposure u get is pretty good.

Dislikes

Our college being and institute of national importance lacks infrastructure
Our college can't even accommodate the students. We literally need to fight for hostel every year.
The distance between hostel and college is too much. Travelling 12 km everyday from hostel to college is pretty hectic

Admission:

This course only takes JEE qualified students. There is a 2nd paper of JEE conducted specifically for this. The cutoffs for this university is too high, around 200 is the cutoff for generals. Me being a general and my rank was around 180 so got in the 2nd round. The JEE examination happens twice.

College has various weekly talks, discussions, meetings, etc. They bring in many well-known architects who are doing great in the profession.
College had a very good professors. In the later years, the curriculum and the professors who teach them are very good.
The student activities are throughout the year and college fests in both the semesters are amazing.

Dislikes

Due to various reasons, there is decline in the quality of professors in recent years.
The infrastructure of the college is not good and students have to travel 10+ kms everyday from hostel to college.
The management of hostel and mess is really pathetic in the past few years with increase of fees at

Admission:

The admission is done through JEE MAINS Architecture exam. The cut-off is quite high as the college is one of the top college. The exam happens once in a year. The admission process is quite simple and feasible.

The faculty is super experienced and informative
The culture of the place is extremely diverse and literally every festival is celebrated with equal enthusiasm

JEE mains paper-2 rank should be with 150 in general category could be till 500 in other categories. The admissions take place through josaa counseling only The exam does not need much of preparation if ypu have prepared enough for 12th and you are good at sketching. There is EWS, SC /ST, PWDand OBC reservations where in SC ST PWD students get 50%fee waiver
