What Students Say
Likes
- Canada is immigration friendly.
- Schulich is good in all domains of studies and the few of the faculty members are top-notch. Schulich has a good brand across the country and is picking up wide acclaim as the best place for entrepreneurship.
Dislikes
- In terms of diversity, Schulich is lagging behind as almost 80% of the student strength here is from Asia (especially India). This makes a huge negative cultural impact in terms of studies and work culture.
Required Exams for Admission
Overall it is a decent experience. While the amenities are fine, I feel everything is left to the student to find their own job or progressing in their career. I wanted more diversity and better economic opportunities. If given a chance, I would try for a US university.
Course Curriculum
It is very relevant, the courses get revamped year on year. As part of the assignments we get a lot of hands-on experience.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is around 1:25. The faculty are very friendly and they also advocate us to work hard and think out of the box. Few professors like Prof. Wissam and Prof. Ashwin Joshi are top-class and everyone ensures to attend one of their classes.
Campus Life
Campus is very lively during the semesters as there is not only MBA students but students from other streams. There are sports events held across the year, inter-year and inter-college. Student clubs are very active, the campus has 3 big libraries and the campus itself is on a land of more than 200 acres.
Placement
students need to search on their own. The campus helps in getting your resume, cv prepared. there is a campus job portal where students can apply for companies.
Accommodation
A student would be spending around 15,000 CAD per year as living expenses. There is campus housing where most of the students would be living - students either live in a bachelors or a 2 bhk sharing.
Exams
You need to give GMAT, IELTS/TOEFL. I gave GMAT - 720/800. TOEFL - 111/120. Getting around 650 can get you into Schulich. As this is for MBA, there would be Essay Questions. Two LORs are also needed. One round of video interview - where you get a prompt and you have 30 seconds to frame your answer and 90 seconds to answer the question. Practice beforehand, by picking up previous questions from MBA forums, look into the camera hole. The second round is a one-on-one interview - behavioral questions such as why this college, what have you done before, what do you expect from the college, etc.
Fees
The tuition fees is around 120,000 CAD.
Scholarship
I am doing a program called MBA in India and every student in the program receives 10,000 CAD scholarship.
