My York Diary

I only applied to two of my favorite colleges and universities. One was Humber college and the other was York University. I got accepted at both of them within one month and had my offer letter. But I chose York university for better experiences and a university tag . Because, everyone believes that a university has more and better opportunities but that was not the case for me. I did not choose Humber College because it is very tough at studies and I have heard that it gives its students a hard time. My admission to York was quite simple and easy. I applied for the course. We had to submit an online video stating why we want to study at York . I submitted that and within one month I got my offer letter. It is very important that we all have our IELTS or any other language proficiency in order to apply for university or college . For York university, we need a minimum of 6.5 band , with no module less than 6. I got the exact same and got in. I initially applied for the January intake but due to personal reasons couldn’t leave before May so I got my intake deferred. It was a very easy process that I emailed them and gave a good reason for deferment. Then I got it. My course was available both in January and May. The admission process took a whole 2 to 3 months . From applying to receiving the offer including the defer. I have been dreaming of studying in Canada since class 10 in 2017. But Covid happened so I couldn't leave. When I was in college in India I really loved the subject of Human Resources Management and I decided to study it in canada as well and then decided York University for the same. York University has amazing rankings for faculty and teaching norms. Also, I wanted to go to a University and see how it feels to study in a university. Also, HRM is considered one of the best courses offered by York . I have made friends here and I am currently loving my student life at York, but it definitely gets boring because there are no extracurricular activities for us.  ...Read More

Perfect amount of fun and studies . Honestly , it all depends on the students . The professors try their best and are always there for anyone who needs help with the course and some will also be there for u if u need them in general . It can be a little hard to make friends initially but Yorku provides a lot of facilities and hosts a lot of events which can help people know more about campus and make friends ....Read More

Experience with Schulich was great. Helped me build my network in Canada. Fulfilled my primary objective of gaining knowledge on different business functions. It would be better if there was individualized attention and mentorship as few other colleges like Rotman does. Curriculum is mostly easy or not very difficult. The experience was enriching and pro academics. The B-School maintains a diversity in age groups even though the diversity in nationalities is fairly limited so international exposure is lacking to an extent.
