MAT September 2026 is open to graduates from any recognised university with no age limit and no stream restriction — a bachelor’s degree is the only mandatory qualification set by AIMA.

The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts MAT four times a year for MBA and PGDM admissions at 140+ participating B-schools. The September 2026 session offers a Paper-Based Test (PBT) on September 13 and a Computer-Based Test (CBT) on September 20. AIMA does not set a minimum graduation percentage; individual institutes apply their own admission cutoffs, commonly 50% or above.

Educational Qualification Requirements

You must hold a bachelor’s degree from a university or institution recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). AIMA does not prescribe a minimum percentage at graduation level — this is one of the most open eligibility policies among national MBA entrance exams.

Each of the 140+ B-schools participating in MAT September 2026 sets its own admission cutoff independently. Most institutions require at least 50% aggregate in graduation; highly-ranked programs may require 55% or above. Always read the prospectus of every institute you plan to apply to before registering for the test.

Students in their final year of graduation may register provisionally. If shortlisted, admission is conditional on submitting a passing certificate or final marksheet within the timeline specified by the admitting institute. A final year student who does not complete graduation by the institute’s deadline loses the admission offer.

Age Limit and Work Experience

MAT September 2026 has no upper or lower age bar — graduates of any age who hold a recognised bachelor’s degree can register.

Work experience is not a mandatory eligibility condition for MAT. Fresh graduates applying immediately after completing their degree are fully eligible. Some management institutes award additional merit points for relevant work experience at the GD/PI stage, but this does not affect MAT registration eligibility in any way.

Stream and Subject Requirements

MAT accepts graduates from all academic streams with no subject-specific restrictions.

Whether your bachelor’s degree is in arts, commerce, science, engineering, law, medicine, pharmacy, or any other discipline, you are eligible to register. The exam tests five standardised aptitude areas: Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, and Indian and Global Environment. None of these sections demands subject-specific knowledge from your graduation stream.

Documents Required for MAT September 2026 Registration

Registration for MAT September 2026 is done online at the AIMA portal. Scan and keep the documents below ready before you start filling the form — the system requires uploads at specific steps and does not allow indefinite form saves.

The registration fee is Rs 2,300 for a single mode (PBT or CBT) and Rs 4,000 if you register for both modes. Payment is accepted online via debit card, credit card, or net banking.

Documents to Carry on Exam Day

Carry a printed copy of your MAT September 2026 admit card and a valid original government photo ID to the exam centre — entry is denied without both.

For PBT on September 13 and CBT on September 20, the invigilator verifies the admit card against the ID. Digital copies of the ID on a mobile phone are not accepted at most centres. Print the admit card in A4 size with all text and the photograph clearly legible.
