University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
The core UMHB requirement for Indian PG applicants is a completed bachelor’s degree with a US GPA equivalent of 3.0 and proof of English proficiency.
UMHB PG Requirements
- Academic: Bachelor’s with 65% or CGPA 6.5/10 (recommended) mapping to a 3.0 US GPA on WES conversion
- English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80 (score of 20 in each band), IELTS 6.0 (in each band), as per the UMHB Graduate English Proficiency Requirements
- Credential verification: Course-by-course evaluation via foreigncredits.com or WES after I-20 issuance
- Standout: MBA applicants must submit a resume; GRE and GMAT are waived for most master’s tracks
UMHB UG Requirements
- Academic: Class 12 with 70% to 85% (recommended); high school diploma plus transcripts
- Language: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 80 (20 in each band), PTE Academic 53, or Duolingo English Test 115
Key insight: UMHB accepts a conditional English pathway (IELTS 4.5, TOEFL iBT 3.5 band, PTE 26, or DET 75) that admits students with mandatory ESOL coursework, but F-1 visas cannot be issued for standalone English study.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Acceptance Rate 2027
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor admission profile lists an acceptance rate of 95% (estimated), derived from published enrolment ratios rather than an official Common Data Set release. UMHB is a non-selective admit with almost all qualified applicants receiving an offer.
Indian applicants who meet the recommended 65% bachelor’s threshold and hit the TOEFL or IELTS minimums are cleared academically in the vast majority of cases. The visa interview and financial documentation remain the harder gate.
Reality check: A high admit rate does not translate to a low bar for the F-1 visa. Indian applicants should treat the USD 28,030 proof of funds and the ties-to-home documentation as the effective admission filter.

University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Placements and Career Outcomes 2027
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor does not publish a central placement report; graduate outcomes are tracked by individual programs, with the health-professions tracks reporting the strongest employment continuity.
- Employment continuity: Doctor of Physical Therapy and MSOT cohorts report near-full clinical placement within six months (program-level disclosure)
- Median starting salary: Not centrally disclosed by UMHB; market medians place US physical therapy graduates at USD 95,600 per year (INR 90.6 lakh) as per BLS 2024
- MBA outcomes: Post-MBA salary not disclosed by UMHB; US market median for regional MBA programs is USD 75,000 per year (INR 71.1 lakh) as per NACE 2024
- Recruiters: Central Texas hospital systems, Baylor Scott and White Health, Killeen Independent School District and Central Texas public school districts are the primary employers for education and health-track alumni (representative employers, not an official list)
- Career support and OPT: UMHB Career Services covers resume review and interview prep; F-1 graduates qualify for 12 months of Optional Practical Training, extended by 24 months for STEM-designated programs
Insider note: Indian graduates from UMHB health-track programs typically stay in Central Texas for their first clinical role because Texas licensure is streamlined for in-state graduates, then move to higher-paying markets after one to two years.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor vs Peer Universities
UMHB is best compared against other private faith-linked or regional US universities in the affordable band. The peer set below covers institutions Indian applicants commonly weigh alongside UMHB for master’s admission.
| University | QS Rank 2027 | Avg Annual PG Fee (USD) | Avg Annual PG Fee (INR) | Differentiator |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| University of Mary Hardin-Baylor | Not ranked | 34,800 to 41,760 (estimated) | 33.0 to 39.6 lakh (estimated) | Low tuition with Christian-heritage campus |
| Baylor University | #601 to 650 | 50,000 to 60,000 (estimated) | 47.4 to 56.9 lakh (estimated) | Larger research base, stronger brand pull |

| Hardin-Simmons University | Not ranked | 28,000 to 36,000 (estimated) | 26.6 to 34.1 lakh (estimated) | Similar faith framework, smaller cohort |
| Texas A&M University-Central Texas | Not ranked | 18,000 to 24,000 (estimated) | 17.1 to 22.8 lakh (estimated) | Public tuition, no residential campus |
[Source: QS World University Rankings 2027 and university published fee schedules]
UMHB stands out for Indian applicants because it combines the residential feel of a private US university with per-credit tuition that is roughly a third below Baylor and other private Texas peers. The MSOT and DPT programs give a health-track pathway with faculty-run clinical placements that most public peers do not offer.
The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor is a solid fit for an Indian student who wants an affordable, residential US degree in a health, education or business track and is comfortable in a small, faith-influenced campus setting. Total four-year undergraduate investment lands near INR 129.7 lakh against a US starting salary base that typically clears INR 40 lakh in the first year, and Optional Practical Training gives up to three post-study work years in STEM fields.
UMHB is not the right pick for applicants targeting a QS top-500 brand, a large public research campus or a metro city experience. Indian applicants prioritising research funding or urban immersion should instead look at Baylor University or one of the University of Texas system schools.
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor FAQs
Ques. Does the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor offer online master’s degrees for Indian students?
Ans. UMHB runs several fully online graduate tracks including the MSN Nursing, Master of Public Health and MS Sport Administration. Indian students can enrol in these programs from India without an F-1 visa, though online-only enrolment does not carry Optional Practical Training rights. The hybrid MBA and MAcc require some on-campus attendance and remain the standard route for OPT-seeking applicants.
Ques. Can Indian students work part-time while studying at UMHB?
Ans. F-1 students at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor may work on-campus for up to 20 hours per week during semesters and up to 40 hours per week during official breaks. Off-campus employment requires Curricular Practical Training authorisation tied to a program requirement, or an Optional Practical Training application submitted through the International Student Services office in the Mabee Center.
Ques. Is GRE or GMAT required for UMHB master’s admission?
Ans. Most master’s programs at UMHB waive both GRE and GMAT, including the MBA, MS Accounting, MS Information Systems, MEd Education and MS Sport Administration. The Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy doctoral programs review standardised scores as part of a holistic file. Applicants with a US GPA below 3.0 may be asked to submit GRE scores to strengthen the file.
Ques. Which Indian education loan lenders recognise UMHB?
Ans. UMHB carries a valid US Department of Education institution code, which is the primary lender check used by HDFC Credila, Avanse, ICICI Bank and Auxilo. Public sector lenders including SBI and Bank of Baroda process UMHB loans under their standard US degree list. Loan sanction usually hinges on the I-20 amount, collateral and co-applicant profile rather than any UMHB-specific approval.
Ques. What proof of funds does UMHB need for the I-20 form?
Ans. UMHB requires proof of USD 28,030 in liquid funds for graduate applicants before the I-20 is released, with the amount adjusted upward for dependents. Acceptable documents include bank balance certificates, education loan sanction letters and sponsor affidavits signed by parents. All documents must be dated within six months of I-20 issuance and translated into English where required.
Ques. Can dependents accompany Indian students on the F-1 visa at UMHB?
Ans. Spouses and unmarried children under 21 qualify for F-2 dependent visas linked to the primary F-1 holder. UMHB adds roughly USD 6,000 per dependent to the required proof of funds when issuing a family I-20. F-2 spouses cannot work in the US but may enrol part-time in academic study; F-2 children may attend K-12 school.
Ques. How does UMHB convert Indian bachelor’s degrees to a US GPA?
Ans. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor does not run its own transcript conversion; it directs applicants to www.foreigncredits.com or WES for a course-by-course evaluation. Indian applicants should expect a percentage-to-GPA mapping in the 3.0 US GPA band for 65% and above. Official evaluated transcripts are only required after I-20 issuance, but the self-calculation is used for the admission decision.
Ques. What is UMHB’s application fee and can it be waived for Indian applicants?
Ans. The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor charges a non-refundable USD 75 application fee for international applicants at both undergraduate and graduate levels, paid online at the end of the application. UMHB does not publish a general fee waiver policy for Indian applicants. Fees are occasionally waived for participants in official recruitment events or agency partnerships; applicants should confirm eligibility with International Student Services before applying.

University of Mary Hardin Baylor Reviews
1 Reviews Found
Likes
- Flexible with online classes, we can just visit twice per semester.
- Easy assignments as they are mostly theory and can be found online resources easily.
- Low fee compared to other universities and since it is in Texas even the cost of living is less
Dislikes
- Not many specializations included for MS. If we have completed our bachelor’s in engineering, then we only have one/two options.
- The standard of syllabus and faculty experience is not as per current requirements.
- Less chances of working as assistant professors as they are limited branches. May be one or two posts and that too professors are very biased in selecting as they are done on merit or performance matrix.
Campus Life
- It is a huge campus with 4-5 sub campuses. We have the golf club, foot ball grounds, libraries and stadium as well. Our university is famous for medical back ground. We do have in house medical or emergency first aid care.
- Apart from this we have feats like food festival, Patrick’s day celebration, and also the foot ball and basket ball tournaments from my university and Austin universities. We were not exposed to much clubs as it was maintained by under grad students
Fees
-
I had $27,000 dollars for the whole MSIS course, I haven’t stayed in dorms, so no idea of it. It can be paid monthly or semester wise. We get a credit of $1000 twice when we get 4/4 cgpa. Apart from this they sometimes charge 250$ as transportation and we can talk to authorities and get it removed as we don’t use it.
-
I had 700-800$ dollars as monthly expenses. We shared the 2bedroom flat by 4 people and since all the groceries were shared by everyone we had split wise.
