- There was a good enviornment many students with same career goals,, and things were pretty much streamlined, seniors were there to guide.
Dislikes
- The major drawback is also the shear number of students,, to much competition, very difficult to find an on campus job itself .
Campus Life
- Good, library and gym is nice, 2 gym, 1 gameroom as well.
Accommodation
- Boston is just too expensive.
Likes

- Hands on approach
- University life experience
Dislikes
- It can get really cold sometimes
- Not a lot of stored nearby to get groceries from
- Lacks some subjects for the Cybersecurity master's
Campus Life
- Just one pretty compact campus, which I really like, actually.
- All kinds of facilities are available; literally, you name it, from the library to makerspace to all kinds of sports, pools, and gyms. Different clubs. Medical and mental health consultation.
- All cultures are celebrated so all the cultures have different groups. The major thing celebrated is wellness mental health days every 7 weeks and all the Indian festivals are also celebrated.
Accommodation
- I opted for off-campus accommodations.
- I found it with the help of a relative and different websites like apt-finder and willow.
- It was challenging to find an apartment because you cannot come and see what you're signing up for. You can always contact seniors and ask if they've got space in their house or if anyone has, they can tell you. WPI has an off-campus Facebook house hunt group as well.
- I would like to recommend students definitely find a walking distance house from WPI as it gets harsh in winters. And find a house with a good heater.
- My accommodations were a 7-10 minute walk from campus so it was pretty close. Most of the Indian students live in the same neighborhood.

- Location : Boston is a great place to start a journey in a new country. It is vibrant. You get to experience all the four seasons.
- Campus: The campus is big yet centralized. It is also modern which gives you a high class feel.
- Opportunities - Varied range of on-campus job opportunities.
Dislikes
- Weather : Boston can get real cold and that can lead to months of depressing cold days.
- Competition : Even though there are a lot of on campus job opportunities, the students strength can make getting the job very competitive.
- Expense: Northeastern, because it is a private university, is very expensive in terms of tuition fee, healthcare etc.
Campus Life
-
Northeastern University has 2 campuses in Boston.
Main campus - 360 Huntington Avenue
second campus - South station -
Library, sports(swimming pool, football court), gym, canteen
-
NEU Sanskriti, Bean town club, readers and writers club, bridges. NEU has a holistic community therefore all types of festivals and events are celebrated. Like holi, diwali, navratri, onam, paryushan etc
Accommodation
- Off-campus, already has friends and their support was present.
- Monthly rent was 800$. This included heat and water.
- The challenge of budget friendly accommodations near university was there.
- Join whatsapp groups, use fb marketplace and you will get the best deals.
- Mine was a 20 mins walk about 1.5 miles from the university. Boston has Indians everywhere

Likes
- The University is very diverse, and good experience I got for my course program- Biotechnology.
- The professors are experienced, knowledgeable and highly skilled.
- I also got hands-on training and attend conferences, but they take a lots of money
Dislikes
- The University is very expensive and fees per course credit increases every year.
- They don't offer any scholarships for international students.
- They never pay for Research Assistants. We volunteer in the biotech labs without any pay but we do it for our experience.

13 Northeastern University Campuses:
*That are Boston,Portland,Oakland,Arlington,Burlington ,Charlotte,Miami,Nahant,Seattle,Silicon Valley,Toronto,Vancouver ,London -
In the Boston campus I live in, there are snell library, 2 sports facilities- Marino and squashbursters, and medical services called UHCS.
There are many Indian and Asian cultural events that happen. We celebrate Ganesh chaturthi, Krishna janmashtami, Diwali, Halloween, Christmas, Fall break, spring break, Hanukkah, Thanksgiving and many more.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation Through an app called Yocket, from there I got links for some whatsapp groups.
- Monthly expenses include many things as listed below (per person) - Rent, electricity bill, water bill, WiFi bill, Laundry, groceries, Transportation. Everything in total would be around 1000 US dollars. So, this expense would be there for every month.
- It was difficult to find vegetarians and the places were very bad with rats and cockroaches. Most people never used to reply.
- Mission Main is a very good place to stay, it is safe at night. Police and ambulance will be going around this area. It is very nearby University and also near to train station, grocery stores, and bus stand.
- I live in Mission main and it is 10 mins walk to the university. Most of the Indian students live in an apartment called Jvue.

Likes
- The professors at Khoury College of Computer Sciences are amazing, the way the design the course structure is was makes it better than the other departments at NEU.
- The campus is located in the prime spot of Boston city, thus making it very accessible and easy to commute.
- There are many facilities and clubs in NEU which students can take part in for extracurricular involvement.
Dislikes
- The campus is quite small (only 75-80 acres) and doesn’t have any iconic buildings, so there’s nothing we have we can flaunt about in our pictures.
- Being in Boston, the winters are very cold, with temperatures going as low as -20°C and snowing all day. Definitely not ideal if you’re not used to extreme cold.
- There are too many Indian students, which limits opportunities for learning about other communities and international networking.
Campus Life
-

- On the Boston campus, we have access to these facilities:
- Library: Snell Library
- Sports Facilities: The Marino Recreation Center and the SquashBusters Center are the main recreational facilities.
- Medical Services: University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) offers medical care.
- Curry Student Centre: This is a common student activity center for us to hang out and collaborate.
- Northeastern hosts several major events:

- Student Organizations: Students can join a wide array of clubs, including the Graduate Student Club, Data Science Club, Artificial Intelligence Club, Astronomy club and so on.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation via a broker named StudentLandings Inc.
- Monthly expenses include rent and utilities (electricity, gas, and wifi bill). Rent costs around 530 dollars, and utilities cost around 70-80 dollars max per month. Facilities only include all the in-unit appliances like microwave, dishwasher, oven, Washer and dryer.
- We didn't face any challenges while finding accommodations; as such, everything went smoothly.
- Do look out for accommodation mainly in the Mission Hill area, as the utility bill there is free of charge and its very close to the university. Also, the neighbourhood is very safe and lively.
- I don't have any transportation costs as there's a free bus ride on the route where my house is located. And on top of that, my house is just 1.3 km away from the university, which is pretty convenient.
- Most Indian students stay in areas like Roxbury, Mission Hill, Fenway, and South End. These are places that are near the university.

- Practical Based Learning (Code reviews, Quiz Assessments)
- Vibrant City Campus in Boston
Dislikes
- There are too many Indian students, so we get very less chances to speak with people from other ethnicities
- Boston City life is very expensive
- House searching is a tedious process
Campus Life
- There are total 13 Campuses, where Boston campus is the main and Vibrant one. While the competitive work environment (co-op hustle) is real, you will appreciate the rooftop library views, complimentary gyms (Marino Center!), and engaging events such as Howler.
- The city boasts over 400 clubs, including SASA’s Diwali celebration, hackathons, and Quidditch. While socializing may require effort, Boston offers an abundance of opportunities for recreation. If you miss home, there is even a samosa study group for those who need a taste of Indian culture.
Accommodation
- The Graduate Students doesn't have On-Campus accommodation option. But, Northeastern offers off-campus house searching facilities.
- I found my first accommodation through Northeastern Housing groups, where each day the messages are piled up with accommodations for students.
- The monthly rent varies depending on the place. If you find a place near University, it will cost more than $1000 for private room and $700 for shared room.
- I stayed in a shared room where I paid $625 including utilities (Water, Gas, sewage) and there will be additional utility charges (electricity and Wi-Fi).
- I would say check in the Northeastern Housing groups for accommodation, which is the easier way, and also, check in Facebook pages for accommodations.
- My accommodation is 0.8 miles away from University, and it is a place called Roxbury, where most of the Indian students stay, because of less monthly rent, easier bus service access.

Dislikes
- 1) Difficult to network

- 3) Academia could get a little toxic, less funding in most of the labs,
Campus Life
- Around 13 campuses scattered through different cities. There is Toronto, London, Singapore, Boston, Oakland, Vancouver, Portland, Miami, Seattle, Toronto, etc.
- All of these facilities are available. Sports include gym, swimming pool, basketball, football and ice hockey. Medical services include the UHCS's health insurance that covers health surcharges and medical billings.
- We are called Huskies and we have techfests, campus fares and clubs like Taekwondo Club, Karate club and the Judo Club.
- Sports include football events air hockey events and cultural events include Halloween fests and Trick'n' Treats, along with student organization board committees that are in charge of most of these events.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation on AirBnB.com and Craigslist.
- I paid around 800$ for a single-bedroom, 4-room apartment. It included an attached bathroom.
- I found it challenging to get a fully furnished apartment and an apartment with reduced prices.
- I would certainly recommend checking Airbnb and probably reaching out to realtors one-on-one for apartments or even if you can shed an extra few dollars, please get yourself an on-campus accommodation. Do not solely rely on lessor advertising their property on Craigslist. Be extra cautious.
- It is not that far. It is like 3 miles away from the college campus.Indian students mostly stay in the vicinity of the campus for ease of commute.

- The most important thing about NEU is its coop program and the only reason you should come but it is not guaranteed and only 60% of people get it so you need to be hardworking and smart to get it other than that good infrastructure.
Dislikes
- Too many Indians it is very crowded with Indians no On-campus jobs nothing, very costly city in bad market the meaning of this college is nothing, this college is good only in the good market because of coop program.
Campus Life
Campus life is good if you stay near the college and infrastructure is amazing too, there are not many clubs as such I don't know much clubs and the WIFI is available to the whole campus and has a great Gym.
Accommodation
I didn't live in the dorms but the city of Boston is itself very costly and the college is in downtown so the costs are very high near the college.
Likes
- Everything, the campus, the events, the professors, the teaching quality is amazing.
- It was the best decision of my life to apply and select this as my stepping stone in the US.
Dislikes
- Some of the buildings could have been renovated now and made them upto the mark, apart from this, no other issues.
- The university is great. The students feel exactly like home with the culture shared.
Campus Life
Amazing, free wifi everywhere, beautiful campus, lots of engaging events.
Accommodation
I am renting a room near the university, paying 800 a month and about 50-60 for utilities.
Campus Life
Plenty of space on campus to sit and work. Has a Wi-Fi facility everywhere. You'll see some or the other activity happening on campus throughout the year. Very lively atmosphere. Ample research and sports activities, too.
Accommodation
Living costs are on the expensive side since it's Boston. People usually share rooms to cut down costs.
