  • Syllabus is relevant and new but extremely difficult to cope with the knowledge you got from undergraduate studies in INDIA unless and until you are from IIT/NIT. No, they won't give any opportunities unless you beg every day to the professors for some experience. One course will have 3 hours in a week. So if you are taking 4 courses, then you have 12 hours of class in a week.
  • No fixed timings; it can be any time of the day from 8.30 AM to 9.00 PM. The students in classes are not fixed as in INDIA. Most of the courses are electives, so there will be undergrads, grads and even PHD students in a class and the same people may not be in the next elective course that you take.

Fees

  • 45000 USD.

  • I hate Computer Architecture and Organisation, which I had to take and it lowered my GPA. Now a good thing is they have made it optional (need to check if they have removed it from the syllabus completely). Most of the international students are Indian.
  • There is not a specific class for me. In my batch, around 100 students started studying during the spring 2022 semester. Difficulty of course curriculum depends on an individual. For me Operating system were difficult.

Fees

  • Per semester I was charged USD 14000 considering I chose 3 courses. Fees can be calculated/credited by course. USD 1100~1200/credit and USD ~4500/course. Total cost was around ~45000 USD. University has transportation (free), rent (~500/month), groceries (~100-200/month) and other miscellaneous costs (~100 USD).
  • It differs from person to person, as even 4 courses could be taken instead of 3 per semester in order to manage the master's journey, subject to the advisor's approval.

  • The curriculum for MS ISE is of medium difficulty level. Most of the courses are extremely practical and project-based. But core courses might be a bit on the challenging side. However, it will not be bad while grading, as many of the courses here have relative grading scheme
  • Positive aspects of the course:
    • Professors are highly skilled
    • Courses are taught with a very high depth; also, doubts during the lectures are solved
    • Classroom environment and peers are curious for learning new things, which helped me grow & understand concepts in practical way
    • Software for simulation, Supply chain and others are available for all students
  • Negative aspects:
    • I did not find any, as I came from India and comparatively, learning & teaching is pretty student-friendly.
  • Most of the departments have lectures 4 days in a week. For ISE, Monday to Thursday lectures are conducted. Usually 1 or 2 lectures in a day
  • 30-35 for non-core courses and 50-60 in core courses. 30-35 % will be Indian students for ISE

Fees

  • Here, usually the fees is semester-wise but the post-calculation average cost per credit is around $1200
  • Breakdown:
    • Per Semester - 12 credits (4 courses) = $14,400 + $1,400 (insurance) = $15,800
    • Fees are Semester-wise
  • Monthly cost of living
    • Rent – $500 to $550 (private room) with shared kitchen, washroom and other spaces of the house
    • Food & Grocery – $200 to $250
  • TOTAL Cost of living = around $800 to $850

  • Difficulty level of your course curriculum : It's a mix of both theoretical and practical, and it also depends on what courses you are taking and what professor you are choosing to do your study under.
  • Positive and negative aspects of your course : Positive is great learning and scope of growth; negative is sometimes too research-focused.
  • Schedule and Timings: Depends on the courses you are enrolled in, but no late-night classes are conducted. Almost all the classes come to an end by 8.30pm.

Fees

  • Breakdown of fees : Tuition is approximately 36 lakhs. No other charges are there, and insurance is also included in that.
  • Fees charged : Fees are charged semester-wise according to the number of credits you are taking. Also, you get an option to pay the fees in installments.
  • Monthly expenses, including everything from housing to groceries, go up to 600-650 USD. It also depends on your lifestyle.

  • My course difficulty levels are somewhat between moderate and hard and courses are a good combination of practical and mathematical calculations.
  • Positive aspect of my course is mathematical calculations involved which I am good at, my course also includes some projects where I get a chance to use and learn different CAD software's.

Fees

  • Tuition fee is divided as non resident grad fee, international student insurance, technology fee, academic excellence and success fee, health services, college fee, transportation, activity, recreation fee.
  • Fees are charged semester wise (depending on number of credit)
  • My estimation of monthly expenses is $520 rent including utilities, $100 grocery, $30 other expenses.

  • Of course difficulty was above medium. It has both theoretical and practical aspects.
  • The regular lectures, classworks, assignments, homeworks, and discussions with professors were highly effective, also the schedule of classes was quite helpful. The negative part was  lesser focus on recent advancements in technology included in the courses.
  • Typically, 1-2 classes were scheduled in a day with timings from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Each class was around 1-1:30 minutes in duration.
  • Average students per class was around 35-40.
  • About 80% students enrolled in the course were Indian students. The total batch size was around 350 students.

Fees

  • Fees would be as below (Per semester):

    1 credit = ~ US $1000
    9 credits per semester = ~ US $9000
Total course credits (4 semesters - 31 credits)

  • Accommodation - Off campus - US $450 per month all inclusive
  • Food and other expenses - US $200-$300 per month (as per lifestyle)
  • Health insurance per semester - approximately US $1500
  • Transport in Binghamton (Free - covered as part of fees in the university)
  • Total fees charged by the university per semester (9 credits) - ~ US $ 13000

  • Difficult is medium , its a mix of both practical and theoretical.
  • Classes typically depends on what subjects you have, for example you have to take 3 core courses here for CS , so it might have 40-60 people depending on the seats available. For other courses which are non core , typically a class hai 30 students each.
  • Classes are very flexible , there are different professor same subjects you can choose in which slot you want.
  • Part times are easily available as i said earlier , RA , TA And GA positions are available under each professor
  • Typically there are 3 core and 10 non core subjects which you have to complete to obtain a degree. Core has usually 40-60 people each class and has been taken by different professors
  • And non core has around 30 students per batch.
  • About 60-70% are indian students who are enrolled in a class ( CS and IS)
  • Yes the course content is sufficient and advanced to crack any offcampus jobs

Fees

  • I am living off campus
  • So , tuition fees : $27000
  • Living expenses: depends on how you are spending money
  • Usually 8000-9000 $ including everything
  • The above cost is for 1 year for both tution fees and expenses*
  • About transportation , we are free to travel in Public buses (BC Transit) as well as University's private buses (OCCT).
  • We just have to scan our university ID card and its free travel within the city. University takes care of that.

  • Our's is a research oriented university. I would say the difficulty level of the course curriculum is medium with more focused on theoretical part
  • The most positive aspect of the research oriented course work is that you will learn the concepts from the root level which provides you a clear understanding and lays a perfect foundation.
  • While the negative aspect is that, as its not more practical it doesn't prepare you for the jobs in the software industry you are looking for and you need to grind yourself by your own.

Fees

  • The tuition is charged as $1000 for each credit. And each subject/class is of 3 credits and the termination project is of 1 credit. We have to complete a total of 31 credits to complete the course implying we need to register at least 10 classes and a termination project/thesis. I have registered for 3 classes in the first semester, 4 in 2nd, 3 classes in 3rd semester and have completed my termination project in 4th semester.
  • The tuition fees is charged semester-wise. The first two semesters are charged with a mandatory minimum fees of 4 classes even though we take only 3 classes in any of the semester.
  • The transportation is included in the fees. Regarding monthly expenses, I used to live off-campus which costed me a monthly rent of $425 including all utilities and maybe a $150 - $200 of food expenses per month totaling an estimated $625 per month or might be more as I have never actually done a calculation

  •  Course curriculum  Was it more theoretical, practical, or a mix of both? - Depends on the course that u take. Medium to hard level difficulty. Mix of both
  • Good course curriculum, but leaned towards research. Good clg for research, but for job, not that great.

Fees

  • Tuition fees per semester if you are enrolled in 12 credits - around $12k
  • International health insurance fees - $1k to 1.5k
  • Transportation technology, recreational fees and other fees sums up to $800 to $1000
  • In Total: around $14.5k
  • Fees charged semester wise.
  • Student can comfortable live in Binghamton for $700 to $800 per month. (This is an upper bound. Students can reduce the expenses if they wish to)
