Status. Closing Soon. Florida Atlantic University’s Spring 2027 undergraduate applications close on 15 September 2026 (about five weeks from now). For Fall (the primary intake), the Common Application for Fall 2027 opened on 31 July 2026, with the Early Action deadline on 15 October 2026. Application fee is USD 30 (around INR 2,861) for both undergraduate and graduate routes.

Florida Atlantic University admissions run on a rolling review for both undergraduate and graduate applicants, with Fall the primary intake where most of the 94 programs open. Indian undergraduates need Class XII marks around 65 percent or higher plus SAT or ACT, and postgraduates need a four-year bachelor’s with a 3.0 GPA on 4.0 (roughly 60 percent in the last 60 credits).

  • Next live deadline (Fall 2027, primary intake): Early Action closes 15 October 2026 through the Common Application.
  • Base tuition and application fee: International undergraduate base tuition averages USD 19,056 to USD 20,760 per year (around INR 18.17 Lakhs to INR 19.80 Lakhs) and the non-refundable application fee is USD 30 (around INR 2,861).
  • Basic eligibility: UG needs Class XII around 65 percent plus SAT or ACT and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79 iBT; PG needs a bachelor’s with GPA 3.0 on 4.0 and IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 79 iBT.
  • Acceptance rate: 50.51 percent overall, based on the last published institutional figure.

Business, engineering, computer science, biomedical sciences, and hospitality management are the most Indian-heavy fields at Florida Atlantic University, and Indian students routinely rate its Boca Raton campus well for cost-to-value and the four-week rolling decisions that let applicants plan visa timelines early.

Florida Atlantic University Application Deadlines for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University uses rolling review for both freshmen and graduate applicants, with fixed dates for Early Action and Spring, per the FAU freshman deadlines page. Fall is the primary intake where most programs open; Spring opens a smaller slate; Summer is limited. Decisions arrive within about four weeks of a complete application. Graduate applicants apply through GradCAS, EngineeringCAS, or CSDCAS depending on the college, with I-20 issuance driving the final visa-ready deadline.

Currency note: All INR figures in this article use USD 1 = INR 95.36, the live rate on 11 August 2026. Live rates may vary, so confirm with your bank before remitting.

Florida Atlantic University’s primary intake for Indian students is Fall (August start) — most programs open here.

Planning note: Spring 2027 is genuinely the last chance for undergraduates who want to enrol before Fall 2027. Rolling decisions arrive in about four weeks, so submitting before mid-September gives room for visa slotting from Indian consulates in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, or Hyderabad.

Florida Atlantic University Eligibility Requirements for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University applies institution-wide floors that individual colleges then raise for competitive programs. The academic and English thresholds below are drawn from FAU’s international and graduate admissions pages. Indian applicants should read this section as the minimum bar; the actual bar for programs like MS Computer Science, MBA, and PhD tracks tends to run 5 to 10 points higher on GPA-equivalent.

Florida Atlantic University Undergraduate Eligibility

  • Class XII academics: Around 65 percent or higher from CBSE, ISC, or a recognised state board.
  • SAT or ACT: Required for applicants with fewer than 60 transferable credits.
  • English proficiency: IELTS 6.0 overall, or TOEFL 79 iBT, or Duolingo 110.
  • Financial proof: Required at I-20 stage, not at academic application.

Florida Atlantic University Graduate Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree: Four-year (or three-year plus one-year PG diploma) with GPA 3.0 on 4.0 in the last 60 credits, roughly 60 percent Indian equivalent.
  • GRE or GMAT: Waived for most professional master’s tracks; PhD Computer Science expects GRE around 310 combined.
  • English proficiency: TOEFL 79 iBT, IELTS 6.0, or Duolingo 110 as institution-wide floor; departments may set higher (for example CSD asks TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5).

Florida Atlantic University IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

FAU exempts applicants from submitting IELTS or TOEFL if they meet any one of these routes under FAU Regulation 4.009. Indian students from English-medium schools or with a prior US degree are the most common beneficiaries.

  • At least three years of secondary schooling in a country where English is the majority native language.
  • At least three years of secondary education with the full curriculum taught in English (covers most Indian English-medium schools with an MOI letter).
  • 60 post-secondary credits or an associate degree or higher from a US regionally accredited institution or an equivalent overseas institution with English-medium instruction.
  • Graduate applicants can also satisfy the requirement by completing Level VI of the Academic Track at FAU’s Intensive English Institute (a pathway option, not a waiver in the strict sense).

Florida Atlantic University PG Programs for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University’s graduate slate is heaviest in engineering and business, both of which route through centralized application systems rather than the FAU portal. Base tuition for international master’s students sits between USD 16,630 and USD 26,566 per year (around INR 15.86 Lakhs to INR 25.34 Lakhs) depending on program and credit load; see the detailed course-wise fee breakdown for per-program figures.

Insider note: Fully online master’s tracks such as Online MBA and Professional MS Business Analytics do not qualify for the F-1 visa. Indian students who need a US student visa should pick the on-campus Boca Raton variant of the same program.

Note: Program-specific entry requirements, fees, and intake availability may differ from the institution-wide minimums shown above. Always confirm on the official Florida Atlantic University Graduate Application page for your chosen program before applying.

SAT and ACT are still required for freshmen with fewer than 60 transferable credits, per FAU’s international freshman page. Applicants with an English-medium Class XII from a recognised Indian board can request an IELTS waiver via the MOI route documented in the Eligibility section above.

Florida Atlantic University MBA Admissions for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University’s MBA suite splits into five tracks. GMAT/GRE is waived for most tracks; work-experience floors differ meaningfully across variants. Indian applicants should note that fully online tracks are not F-1 visa eligible.

Florida Atlantic University MBA Variants and Experience Floors

  • Traditional MBA (Full-time or Part-time): 24 to 36 months, no fixed work-experience floor; GMAT/GRE waiver available based on GPA.
  • Professional MBA (Evenings): 23 months on Tuesday and Thursday evenings; 4 years’ work experience recommended; GMAT/GRE not required for qualified applicants.
  • Executive MBA: 23 months on alternate weekends; minimum 5 years’ professional and managerial experience recommended; GMAT/GRE waived.
  • Online MBA: 16 to 23 months; 4 years’ work experience recommended; GMAT/GRE waived; not F-1 eligible.
  • MBA in Sport Management: 23 months evenings; 4 years’ experience recommended; GMAT/GRE may be required if experience is under 4 years.

Florida Atlantic University MBA Application Timeline for Indian Students

Traditional MBA follows the graduate rolling process with the Fall 2027 cycle open now on GradCAS. Executive and Professional MBA cohorts run separate admissions windows tied to their weekend or evening cohort start dates — Indian applicants targeting Fall 2027 should aim to complete files by April 2027 to allow visa processing time. Base tuition sits in the international graduate band; see the FAU Business fee breakdown for cohort-specific rates.

Florida Atlantic University PhD Admissions for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University offers doctoral tracks across engineering, computer science, business, education, and life sciences, with two admission pathways per the FAU PhD Computer Science admissions page. Faculty alignment matters more than raw metrics; Indian applicants should identify potential advisors before submitting.

Florida Atlantic University PhD Pathways

  • MS to PhD: Minimum 3.3 GPA desired in graduate coursework; GRE required but waived for applicants who completed a Master’s within FAU’s EECS department.
  • BS to PhD Direct Path: Minimum 3.3 GPA in the last 60 undergraduate credits; combined GRE verbal and quantitative 310 or better desired.

Florida Atlantic University PhD Documents and Funding

Applicants submit official transcripts, three letters of recommendation (at least two from faculty), a research statement addressing proposed direction and faculty alignment, and a Statement of Research Interests. Funding is handled department-by-department through teaching or research assistantships; consult the specific PhD program’s funding page for current stipend and tuition-waiver detail.

Reality check: A PhD offer without a funded assistantship is rare for Indian applicants at FAU. Reach out to prospective advisors by email at least 8 weeks before the application deadline to gauge lab openings and funding.

Florida Atlantic University Application Process for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University runs a two-stage admissions process: academic admission first, then I-20 issuance for the F-1 visa. Undergraduate applicants apply through the Common Application or FAU Online Application; graduate applicants use one of three centralized application systems. Rolling decisions typically arrive within four weeks of a complete file.

  1. Choose your portal. Undergraduates use the Common Application (2026-2027 cycle opened 31 July 2026) or the FAU Online Application. Graduates use GradCAS, EngineeringCAS (for engineering and computer science), or CSDCAS (for speech-language pathology and audiology).
  2. Pay the application fee of USD 30 (around INR 2,861) — this is the fee that reaches FAU whether you apply through Common App or the FAU Online form.
  3. Upload transcripts. Class XII and any bachelor’s marksheets; FAU accepts a free internal credential evaluation or a NACES-member evaluation.
  4. Submit test scores. SAT or ACT for freshmen under 60 credits; GRE or GMAT only if your program requires it; English proficiency scores unless waived.
  5. Track your decision. Decisions arrive in roughly four weeks after a file is complete.
  6. Accept the offer and pay the admissions deposit by 1 May 2027 for Fall or 15 October 2026 for Spring 2027.
  7. Submit I-20 documents: Request for I-20, financial proof, and passport bio page. Spring 2027 I-20 cut-off is 28 November 2026.
  8. Book the F-1 visa interview at your nearest US Consulate once the I-20 arrives.

Florida Atlantic University Admission Decisions and Deferral

Early Action decisions for Fall 2027 are notified by 4 December 2026. Rolling decisions land continuously with roughly a four-week turnaround. If you need to defer, FAU allows a term-shift within one calendar year in most cases, subject to program approval and re-issuance of the I-20.

Florida Atlantic University Documents Required for Indian Applicants

Florida Atlantic University asks for a compact document set; the two most-missed items by Indian applicants are the credential evaluation and financial proof at the level FAU specifies. Assemble these before you start the portal to avoid mid-application delays.

  • Passport bio page: Clear scan matching the name on all application forms.
  • Official transcripts: Class XII marksheet and certificate for UG; all bachelor’s semester marksheets, degree certificate, and consolidated marksheet for PG.
  • Credential evaluation: Free internal FAU evaluation (English translations must arrive 30 days before deadline) or a NACES-member evaluation.
  • English proficiency score report: IELTS, TOEFL, or Duolingo — sent directly to FAU Graduate College by the testing body.
  • Standardised test scores: SAT or ACT for freshmen under 60 credits; GRE or GMAT only where your program requires it.
  • Statement of purpose: Required for most graduate programs; PhD applicants add a Statement of Research Interests.
  • Letters of recommendation: Two for most master’s programs; three for PhD, with at least two from faculty.
  • Resume or CV: Required for MBA and most professional master’s tracks.
  • Financial proof: Bank statements or sponsor affidavit covering roughly USD 46,000 per year (around INR 43.87 Lakhs) at I-20 stage.
  • Passport-size photographs: Two, meeting US visa specifications for the F-1 stage.

Florida Atlantic University Acceptance Rate for Indian Students

Florida Atlantic University’s institutional acceptance rate is 50.51 percent, placing it in the moderately selective band — competitive-enough to filter out weak applications but access-oriented for prepared Indian students. The rate varies sharply by program: MS Computer Science and MBA cohorts run tighter, while liberal arts and general MS tracks sit closer to the institution-wide figure.

Florida Atlantic University Selectivity by Program Level

Undergraduate applicants with Class XII in the 70 to 80 percent band and SAT above 1200 clear the bar comfortably. Graduate applicants with a 3.0-plus GPA equivalent and clean prerequisite coursework see decisions within four weeks. Applicants pushing the floor — GPA in the 2.8 to 3.0 range — should consider the Conditional Admissions Track (CAT).

Florida Atlantic University Ranking Context for Indian Applicants

FAU sits in the QS World University Rankings 2026 1001+ ranking band and US News Best Colleges 2026 ranks it 183 national universities and 100 among top public universities. It also ranks 30 in the US News Social Mobility 2026 list — a signal that Indian first-generation applicants receive strong retention and outcome support.

Insider note: The 50.51 percent institutional rate hides program variation. A candid rule of thumb: MS Computer Science and MBA are 25 to 35 percent; general MS in engineering runs 40 to 55 percent; most humanities and social science master’s exceed 60 percent.

USA F-1 Student Visa Process for Florida Atlantic University

Indian students admitted to Florida Atlantic University need an F-1 student visa, issued by the US Embassy in New Delhi or one of the four consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. Timelines matter: the Spring 2027 I-20 cut-off is 28 November 2026 and the Fall 2027 cut-off is 10 July 2027. Aim to slot the visa interview within 30 to 45 days of receiving the I-20.

The visa process runs in a fixed sequence. First, pay the SEVIS I-901 fee of USD 350 (around INR 33,376). Second, complete the DS-160 form online and pay the US visa application fee of USD 185 (around INR 17,642). Third, book the biometric and consular interview slots on the US Travel Docs portal. Fourth, carry the FAU I-20, DS-160 confirmation, SEVIS receipt, passport, offer letter, financial proof for at least one year of tuition plus living costs, and academic records to the interview. Consular officers focus on academic intent, funding source, and ties to India.

2026 update: US consulates in India have reduced student visa wait times to under 3 weeks in most cities for the Fall 2026 cycle. Book the moment your I-20 arrives — slots for Fall intake typically saturate by late June.

Tips and Application Checklist for Florida Atlantic University

The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Florida Atlantic University. Use them to sequence your Fall 2027 or Spring 2027 application so you clear both academic admission and I-20 issuance without last-minute pressure.

  • Request transcripts 8 weeks before your deadline. Indian boards and universities can take 4 to 6 weeks to issue sealed transcripts; FAU’s internal evaluation needs English translations 30 days pre-deadline.
  • Apply Early Action for Fall 2027 by 15 October 2026 — decisions land 4 December 2026 and give you 4-plus months of visa buffer.
  • Ask your Class XII English-medium school for an MOI letter if you want to skip IELTS or TOEFL under FAU Regulation 4.009.
  • Choose the on-campus MBA or MS track, not the online variant, if you need the F-1 visa.
  • Book IELTS or TOEFL at least 10 weeks before the deadline; scores take 10 to 13 days to reach FAU electronically.
  • Save your Class XII marksheet, SAT/ACT scores, English test score, and passport scan as one folder before starting the Common App or GradCAS portal.
  • Line up USD 46,000 (around INR 43.87 Lakhs) of liquid financial proof before the I-20 stage; FAU asks for at least one year up front.
  • Book the F-1 visa interview within 30 to 45 days of receiving your I-20; check FAU student reviews for peer notes on interview questions.

Florida Atlantic University admissions reward preparation, not last-minute submissions. Indian students who plan their transcript request, English test, and financial proof around the primary Fall intake avoid the visa crunch and land in Boca Raton with time to settle before classes start.

Scholarship

  • No one received and kind of scholarships in my friends circle, but many of my friends got the opportunity to serve as a teaching assistant in later semesters which waived off 90% of the semester fee, I almost got the opportunity but I had to loose it because of an internship offer but yeah it depends on the goal you are aiming at. It is way easier to get teaching or research assistantships if you work a little hard in your starting semester it will set tone to your future.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarships.
  • I have not met someone yet who has received a non-federal scholarship. Most of the students who get academic help get assistantships. For assistantships they had to apply online and the department reaches out to them if they get selected. The process is not very transparent.
  • I don't really know; I have never met someone who received a scholarship that is nonfederal.

Overview

I love my university. I spend a lot of my time sitting by the water watching the birds fly over my head. The faculty especially in my department of social work are very understanding and they work with you. They listen to you and try to provide the best care they can, so that you can be successful.

I chose this college because of the location as well as the programs I was looking into. I also chose Florida Atlantic University because I needed a change of scenery and I was accepted right after I received my Associates in Arts.

I opted for this college because of its location I wanted to be close to home enough that I could drive to school and live at home on a daily basis. Also, the cost of a local school was much cheaper than any other.
