What Students Say
Likes
- Some Professors are great, you'll learn a lot, Some professors teach more theoretical concepts, with little practical use. University has good number of On-campus Part time jobs like TA's, GA's, etc. University & Florida in-general is very safe. Campus is big and different events takes place every week. There are number of indian & International students studying & living in the area. Good number of Indian Restaurants avialable.
Dislikes
- Pick subjects after speaking with seniors, so you can get good professors, else waste of money. Nothing else that I can think of.
Course Curriculum
- If you have 3 subjects in a semester, you'll typically have 4-5 classes in a week. Each class is 2-2.30 long.
- 50% of these classes would be online.
Admission Experience
- Climate, Affordability, and coursework are the main factors I considered.
- GRE 317, TOEFL 8.2, I believe. It was a long time ago. Things might've changed.
Faculty
- Not bad. There is a good amount of staff. Some professors provide you with much-needed practical training.
Campus Life
- There are a large number of clubs, events, and facilities available. You can make the most of it if you are interested.
Part Time Jobs
- On-campus part-time jobs offer 12-14$. Some Jobs like TA, GA offer Fees Reimbursement, though competition would be high for these. Max allowed hours are 20 hours a week
Placement
- The university brings recruiters to the Career fairs. But it's not very useful for international students. Some students do find it useful.
Accommodation
- Rent for a 3 BHK Flat is typically 3000 USD a month. If 6 people share it'd be 500 each; that's generally the case (8-9 people also live in many cases). Other Utilities would be 200 $. Miscellaneous expenses would be 200-300 USD a month
Exams
- GRE, TOEFL are needed.
- Also, SOP, LOR, and CV would be needed. The university offers assistance in a few cases.
Fees
- 40k for a master's program in general. you can complete it in 1 year if you want to. people do it in 18 months.
