CSMU B.V.A FAQs
Ques. What is the difference between B.V.A., B.F.A., and B.Des. at CSMU, and which is better for animation?
Ans. CSMU offers B.V.A. (Bachelor of Visual Arts), B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts), and B.Des. (Bachelor of Design) under the School of Design and Arts. The B.V.A. in Animation and VFX Film Making is specifically designed for students who want to pursue careers in animation, visual effects, and film production. B.F.A. is more focused on traditional fine arts, while B.Des. covers product and communication design. For students targeting the animation and VFX industry, B.V.A. is the most relevant choice as it directly covers 2D/3D animation, compositing, and film production workflows.
Ques. What software and tools are taught in the B.V.A. Animation and VFX programme at CSMU?
Ans. The B.V.A. Animation and VFX curriculum at CSMU covers industry-standard tools including Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, Autodesk Maya, Blender, Nuke, and other compositing and 3D animation software. Students are also trained in digital drawing, storyboarding, and motion graphics. Since students in the Graphics Stream are required to have their own laptops with prescribed specifications, they can practice on their personal systems outside of lab hours as well.
Ques. Is there a portfolio or entrance test required for B.V.A. admission at CSMU?
Ans. Admission to B.V.A. at CSMU is primarily based on CUET-UG 2026 scores. There is no separate portfolio submission or studio test required at the time of application. However, students with a background in art, design, or creative subjects at the 10+2 level may have an advantage in the programme. The university prepares a merit list based on CUET-UG scores and academic performance.
Ques. What are the career options after completing B.V.A. Animation and VFX from CSMU?
Ans. Graduates of B.V.A. Animation and VFX from CSMU can pursue careers as 2D/3D Animators, VFX Artists, Motion Graphics Designers, Compositors, Film Editors, Game Designers, and Digital Content Creators. The Indian animation and VFX industry is growing rapidly, driven by demand from OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+Hotstar, as well as gaming companies and advertising agencies. Students can also pursue postgraduate programmes like M.V.A. (Master of Visual Arts) at CSMU or abroad.
Ques. Does CSMU provide internship opportunities for B.V.A. students?
Ans. Yes, B.V.A. students at CSMU are required to undergo mandatory internships in relevant animation, VFX, or film production industries as part of the curriculum. CSMU has industry linkages and partnerships that facilitate internship placements. Students are also encouraged to participate in national-level competitions, film festivals, and creative workshops to build their portfolios and industry connections.
Ques. What is the hostel situation at CSMU for B.V.A. students, and is it mandatory?
Ans. Hostel accommodation at CSMU is optional and not mandatory for B.V.A. students. For 2026-27, the hostel fee ranges from INR 92,000 per year (triple occupancy, non-AC) to INR 1,40,000 per year (double occupancy, AC). Mess charges are not included and are charged separately.
